Progress on the five Super AI Robots moved quickly. The first, the Eagle Type, was based on a Variable Fighter and could be manufactured directly with very few modifications. However, for combination compatibility, its details and appearance underwent extensive changes. It had the size and heft of the Guardians, larger wings, and was the only robot equipped with a Radiant Transmitter System. After combining, its legs would become the combined robot's secondary thrusters, while its wings would become the combined robot's wings.
The second, the Wolf Type Robot, could transform into a normal-sized MS-style form. A twin-linked combination Beam Cannon was mounted on its back, and it was equipped with a Beam Rifle, shield, and Beam Saber. After combination transformation, it became an arm.
The third was a transforming combat vehicle. In its normal state, it was a heavy vehicle brimming with a futuristic feel, based on an armored vehicle but extensively redesigned in appearance. It had twelve tires in total, front and back, with a silver-white body full of sleek styling. There appeared to be no weapons mounted on it at all, but after transforming, it became an eleven-meter-tall silver robot. It was also the smallest of the five transforming robots—the head.
The fourth, the Lion Type Robot, was a full size larger than the No. 3 Wolf Type Robot. After transforming, it was also much taller and sturdier than the No. 3 robot. As a melee-type robot, though its outward appearance seemed fairly similar, the technology it used was entirely different. Artificial muscles were utilized throughout this robot in every respect. Like the No. 2 Wolf Type, it became an arm after combination transformation.
The fifth was a battleship robot, based on the old Small Macross-class—the X-shaped MACROSS type. It was a complete firepower platform, with a Black
