Some time later, three new MACROSS Battleships were completed. Production stopped after adding the one originally assigned to Tetsuya. The ships had performed well in standard testing, but real combat was still needed to determine whether they were truly suited for the battlefield. That was the purpose of the four ships.
Aside from Tetsuya's, one of the other three ships was assigned to Char Squad, while another went to Ingram's squad. Although Ingram's squad lacked proper bridge personnel, that did not stop Ingram and Amuro from selecting qualified people from Nalo's clan to serve as captains.
As for Jeffrey Squad and Xiao Ran's own squad, they already had bridge personnel in their staffing and did not have much need for another ship. The last one was therefore assigned to Naza.
All three Berserk Beast Squads had also been completed. Xiao Ran took one squad himself, while Char Squad and Sanger Squad each received one. They were bound to their respective squads much like exclusive units. Every robot in the newly activated Berserk Beast Squads appeared somewhat bewildered, but they had been loaded with a great deal of combat data in their AI. Once they fully absorbed that data, they would certainly become a major part of their squads' combat strength. Still, it would take some time before they could truly be put to use.
Perhaps because the core technology behind these Super AIs had come from Brave Express, even though Minerva X and Nine had provided considerable assistance, the personalities of the produced Super AIs could only be preset in advance. At the moment of activation, some inexplicable chemical reaction would produce personalities that differed from their settings—such as chatterboxes, effeminate types, tomboys...
