There were some things Todd could not explain to Zoe in detail. After all, he had signed a confidentiality agreement. He did not dare provoke Prometheus's nerves like Xiao Ran did, testing Prometheus's tolerance for him.
Still, Todd truly suspected that the so-called haunting incidents might have been the Burning Legion's doing. The Burning Legion had stepped forward and shown him the catalog, but everything about them still felt extremely mysterious. Just like the mage inheritance card he had obtained—it was exceptionally special.
Unfortunately, he could only follow the inheritance card step by step and slowly improve himself. As for skills, he could forget about them. That inheritance card had merely given him the class. At most, it allowed him to grasp some very basic skills, such as those obtainable before level ten.
Without skill trainers or the Burning Legion's terrifyingly advanced learning materials, mastering the original skills was impossible. He could still learn other mage skills, of course. There were certainly special mages in mech combat, but they definitely could not have come from the Real Zone.
Such a special inheritance had slipped out from the Burning Legion's hands. Who was to say they did not possess even more unusual inheritances, such as one capable of creating haunting incidents?
Yet Todd could not be certain. After all, the fleet currently stationed in the Solar System had never discovered any trace of the Burning Legion. And whenever an incident occurred, there had likewise been no sign that any outsider had intruded. There was not a shred of evidence connecting those inexplicable hauntings directly to the Burning Legion.
Zoe glanced at the tiny flame in Todd's hand and asked, "How likely do you think it is?"
"I don't know." Todd shook his head and smiled gently. "But this is too strange.
