Xiao Ran truly had no idea what huge pitfalls still lay ahead waiting for him, but at the very least, judging from all the information he had obtained so far, he had to remain true to himself during this mission. He absolutely could not let small gains cloud his judgment and ultimately fall into a trap arranged by Prometheus.
He also had to be as Basak said—careful, more careful, and even more careful. This was, after all, a Special Mission. Xiao Ran still did not know how difficult it would be or what changes might arise, but one thing was clear to him: this world had absolutely exceeded the boundaries of a Real Robot world. It was not a world that participants from the Real Zone should normally encounter during missions.
This world contained unknown life forms known as Magius. These Magius had originated from an accident several centuries ago in this world. They were beings like ghosts, possessing only consciousness and no physical bodies. They could inhabit the bodies of any living creature and take everything from them, and they could even achieve immortality by continuously changing bodies.
Powerful Magius possessed abilities close to magic, capable of flying and blocking bullets—things humans simply could not do. Even a participant like Xiao Ran, with his exceptional physical capabilities, could not stop bullets in front of himself as though by magic. Of course, those participants with all manner of bizarre awakened skills might be able to accomplish such things.
The Magius could also feed like vampires on an unknown energy within humans known as Runes, using it as both food and a source of power. Furthermore, the VVV Plan—the strongest machine displayed in this world's animation—also relied on human Runes for energy. It was fundamentally not something that a Real Robot
