Lu Xuan gave Zhang a protective jade pendant and ordered his army to return to General Mountain the next day, then recalled the atrocities the original owner had committed against the Chen Family.

• Zhang Daosheng recognized the escaped Female Ghost in the red wedding dress and Water Ghost, then used a blood-sacrifice golden-light curse to weaken them and the other Yin Souls.

Adjutant Mo and the soldiers opened a black coffin, releasing a deadly cloud and revealing a remarkably preserved Daoist corpse. As the tomb’s other corpses awakened, the soldiers used Lu Xuan’s talismans to empower their rifles and destroyed the horde, leaving the mysterious main coffin unopened.

• Secretary-General Zhou Zhili delivered Hu Weibang’s invitation, and Lu Xuan recognized the Killing Intent hidden in its ink.
• Despite Adjutant Mo and the feng shui adviser’s warnings, Lu Xuan ordered them to wait with a thousand elite soldiers and went to Wangjiang Tower with just over fifty men.

Adjutant Mo led the Southern Pacification Army and a group of spiritual practitioners into Linjiagang to confront the Corpse Disaster. When a vengeful ghost attacked under a supernatural darkness, talisman-enhanced guns destroyed it, and Mo handed the stunned Old Monk a rifle.

• Adjutant Mo arrived in Withered Stone Town, ordered the town secured and supplied, and announced that the army would march against the demons at Blackwater Town and Linjiagang.

Chen Xiong’s former-dynasty appointment document unleashed imperial fate that suppressed the army’s talisman arts, leaving his escape party and Adjutant Mo’s forces facing a sudden reversal.

• Lu Xuan sent the Southern Pacification Army into Xinyu County, where Jiang Hengzhi surrendered after his troops’ bullets failed to harm the talisman-protected soldiers.
• The army took neighboring counties as their people and commanders switched allegiance, leaving Chen Xiong isolated in Hejiang City with fewer than fifty thousand troops.
