Zhang Chen turned to the next page. It was still a hand-drawn image: a Caucasian man with a high nose bridge, bald and exceptionally powerfully built, though his feet resembled goat hooves. The most peculiar feature was his face.
Matching Faceless Man's true name, the bald man in the portrait had only hollow eye sockets and a slightly protruding nose bridge on his entire face, with no actual organs whatsoever. Only his ears looked somewhat proper.
Second incarnation—Faceless God.
Born in the Nordic region, this name originated from ancient texts of the time. Back then, Nyarlathotep was a regional demon who prowled the small villages at night, targeting maidens and infants to consume their most tender flesh and blood.
According to local accounts, this faceless bald man was nothing less than a demon walking among men. One village had purchased traps in advance and successfully captured the faceless bald man, tying him to a massive wooden stake and preparing to burn him alive. Yet when the flames engulfing the stake burned through the hemp ropes binding him, he emerged from within completely unharmed. That very night, he slaughtered everyone in the village and drank deeply of their blood.
This act earned the worship of witches throughout the Nordic region, who thereafter revered him as a god. Thus came the title Faceless God, and the witches followed Nyarlathotep's footprints day and night.

Third incarnation—Pharaoh.

His influence spread across half the human world, while his faith enveloped all of humanity. It was also the only time that human realm prison envoys and cultivators had clearly identified a Nyarlathotep incarnation.
