The building took the form of soaring, slender spires, with the central main library connected to four branch libraries by aerial corridors. It could accommodate more than three hundred thousand people reading inside at once, and its collection exceeded five hundred million volumes.
In truth, the entire Dark World had a population of only two hundred thousand. Yet Madam Demi's Great Library was fully open to the public. Visitors often donated books they had written themselves or brought from their own realms out of respect for the place. Anyone whose three or more books were accepted by the library would become a lifetime member.
Zhang Chen arrived before the library wearing a mask. Inside the guard room, an elderly man in a smiling mask asked whether Zhang Chen had brought any books to donate.
Although Zhang Chen shook his head to indicate that this was his first visit and that he had brought no books, the other man showed no displeasure.
