After a flurry of flashy maneuvers, Aerith dealt with four Lickers. The remaining four seemed to fear her and chose to flee.
In reality, Chang Wei had scared them off.
"Who exactly are you?"
After watching Aerith's godlike performance, Jill did not mince words and asked directly.
Aerith could not understand this woman's inexplicable, sudden attitude.
However, she had no intention of dwelling on it. Having only just awakened from her slumber, Aerith only wanted to leave this place as soon as possible.
"This place is dangerous. The Lickers have set their sights on you. More of them will come."
Aerith spoke to the group. She knew very well how many Lickers were beneath The Hive—her initial estimate was over a hundred. Moreover, all of those Lickers had now escaped, making the grim situation painfully obvious.
Queen of Flames had also said that ordinary zombies had a chance of evolving into Lickers, though the probability was very low.
But that did not mean it was impossible.
There were at least a hundred Type II Lickers, and there might even be Type III Lickers.
Under such circumstances, Aerith was confident that even with the power she had gained, she could not handle the current situation.
"Lickers? You know these monsters?"
Hearing that peculiar term, Jill immediately questioned Aerith on reflex.
"I do, because they are products of the Umbrella Corporation."
Aerith replied calmly.
"The Umbrella Corporation again?"
Jill had been extremely dissatisfied with the Umbrella Corporation's actions at the quarantine station, so naturally she had no favorable impression of them.
Outside Raccoon City, the Umbrella Corporation had, at an utterly absurd speed, erected a steel wall around every entrance and exit of Raccoon City in just one day. Even China's infrastructure fanatics could not have matched that construction speed and capability.
The Umbrella Corporation's task force then set up enormous tents here as a temporary base.
Kane, the person in charge of the task force, was arranging various assignments when a female technician suddenly reported to him.
"Mr. Kane, T-Virus infection within Raccoon City has reached the experimental standard."
The so-called experimental standard was the "critical" threshold determined by the Umbrella Corporation through research into the T-Virus's characteristics and predictive analysis. Once more than half the population of a city was infected, it had already achieved its strategic objective as a bioweapon.
"Good!"
Director Kane immediately moved behind her to check the situation.
"Immediately remotely activate the prepared program and launch the Nemesis Program. The company needs infection data for the T-Virus, as well as Nemesis data. From now on, all data must remain synchronized with headquarters. There cannot be any mistakes."
Director Kane watched for a moment before giving the order.
"Understood!"
The female technician immediately began operating the computer.
"Activating the Nemesis program. Sedation protocol released. Programming chip..."
"Progress: one percent, two percent... one hundred percent!"
"Nemesis has been activated!"
In a distant hospital within Raccoon City, a colossal creature lying on a huge metal bed suddenly opened its eyes. An Umbrella logo flashed across its irises.
The Nemesis Tyrant bioweapon had been activated!
Back at the church, Chang Wei, the fake priest, sensed an aura.
It was very faint. Chang Wei did not know what it was, but he guessed it might be a Type III Licker.
But it did not matter. While introducing himself to Aerith and shaking her hand, Chang Wei had already "infected" her.
Aerith was completely unaware. She did not resist when Chang Wei wanted to shake hands. It could not be helped—Chang Wei had already been very handsome, and after the Blacklight Virus's genetic optimization and bodily modifications, his looks and physique had reached theoretical perfection.
He did not possess the conceptual charm of a meme, but it was still easy for Chang Wei to make women fall in love with him. All he had to do was release Pheromone, and any unenhanced human female would fall madly in love with him.
What displeased Jill about Aerith, aside from how Aerith had stolen the spotlight and made her and Payton seem useless, was that she had attracted Chang Wei, this super handsome man who had suddenly appeared.
Seeing Chang Wei hold Aerith's hand for so long without letting go, Jill clicked her tongue.
[Unknown virus intrusion detected... Super Virus System activated!] [Virus analysis complete. Perfect T-Virus...]
Chang Wei released her hand. Aerith had not noticed at all that Chang Wei had infected her. Her understanding of T-Virus development could only be described as superficial—if not worse.
Chang Wei then began researching the T-Virus within the Super Virus System.
The T-Virus had several evolutionary paths, all provided after the Super Virus System's analysis.
The first evolutionary path was the one Chang Wei wanted most: brain evolution!
According to the system's description, brain evolution would produce telekinesis. The stronger the evolution, the stronger the telekinesis would become!
