The pavilions on both sides of the road grew taller and more majestic. Some had walls carved from whole blocks of black ice, within which specimens of deep-sea behemoths from ancient times were sealed, so lifelike they seemed alive; others used fire-attribute spirit jade as roof tiles, where undying spirit flames leapt and cast the entire pavilion in a glow like a divine weapon inside a furnace.
The stall owners on the street were no longer ordinary Martial Kings or Martial Venerables, either. Many unfathomable auras hid in the dark, and whenever a gaze swept over them, it made people feel as if they had fallen into an ice cellar.
Lu Changsheng's gaze landed on a pavilion to the left with black jade as its foundation. Inside that pavilion's display window, a long sword as black as pitch hovered in midair. There was not the slightest luster on the blade, as though it could even devour light itself, and around the hilt coiled the shrunken bones of a flood dragon's corpse. Even after years of death, it still gave off a vicious baleful aura that made the heart tremble.
"That is the Light-Devouring Dragon Baleful Sword, refined from the spine and soul of an Ink Flood Dragon at the peak of the Martial Venerable Realm. When the sword is drawn, no light remains, and it specializes in devouring divine souls." Tang Shiyin followed his gaze and explained gently, "If it
