Training room.
"Hoo... hoo..."
Chen Mo, bare-chested, slowly sheathed his saber and stopped training, panting heavily. Even though he was gasping for breath and drenched in sweat, he still stood straight, refusing to bend over. Although his clothes had excellent sweat-wicking properties, he had taken off his shirt over an hour ago. He had sweated so much that the fabric clung to his skin, sticky and uncomfortable.
"Hoo, I've finally trained all the moves of the Basic Saber Technique to the Perfection Realm!"
Though covered in sweat, Chen Mo was in an exceptionally good mood.
"Mozi, your muscles are catching up to mine!"
Jiang Tao, who had been resting for a while, couldn't help teasing when he saw Chen Mo stop. Years of training naturally built up muscle; martial artists were all similar, each bundle of muscle containing explosive power.
"Oh? Is that so?"
Chen Mo clenched his fists slightly, and the muscles on his body immediately bulged, thick and full, like a crouching tiger about to strike.
Seeing this, Jiang Tao's face darkened: "I give you a compliment, and you're already puffing up, huh?"
"Watch this!"
Not to be outdone, he showed off his own muscles to Chen Mo. Jiang Tao was much more robust than Chen Mo, and a bit taller; the muscles he displayed now had a stronger visual impact. His eight-pack abs were sharply defined, and the muscles on his back formed a large "ghost" character—this was the legendary Ghost Back!
"See that! That's real muscle!"
Jiang Tao couldn't help boasting. Chen Mo's muscles weren't as bulky as Jiang Tao's; comparing him to the fitness enthusiasts from his past life, Jiang Tao was like a professional bodybuilder who trained year-round, while Chen Mo was just a beginner who had started building muscle.
However, one sentence from Chen Mo silenced Jiang Tao:
"You're not as strong as me."
"I..."
Jiang Tao was speechless! It was true! His blood energy was lower than Chen Mo's, so naturally, his strength wasn't as great! So what was the point of showing off these muscles?
"Let's not talk about that, we're still good brothers!" Jiang Tao said irritably.
"Alright, let's drop it! By the way, how's your Basic Saber Technique coming along?"
Chen Mo spoke as he walked over and sat down next to Jiang Tao. Jiang Tao handed him a bottle of sports drink before replying:
"Some progress, but not much. Who knows how long it'll take to reach Perfection! What about you? You looked pretty happy just now—did you make a big breakthrough?"
Chen Mo didn't hide it and smiled as he said:
"Yeah, I'm almost at Perfection!"
Seeing there was still an hour left on the training room's time, he added, "I should be able to reach Perfection before the time's up!"
"Damn! That fast?" Jiang Tao was shocked. "That's way too fast!"
"As expected, it's different after opening your acupoints! Mozi, you..."
"Even so, we're still good brothers!" Chen Mo naturally knew what Jiang Tao was thinking, so he cut him off before he could finish.
"Once I reach Perfection, I can guide you too. There are still three months until the college entrance exam; I think I can help you train the Basic Saber Technique to Perfection."
"Good brother!" Jiang Tao said, moved, reaching out to hug Chen Mo!
Chen Mo instantly used his movement technique, dodging five meters away:
"Taozi, you're repaying kindness with enmity! Two grown men, shirtless, hugging and holding each other—I'm seriously doubting your orientation! No way, from now on, I'm keeping my distance from you!"
Jiang Tao awkwardly withdrew his hand, scratched his head, and looked embarrassed:
"Mozi, don't misunderstand, I'm just too moved! I really don't like men!"
"I like women, you know that! My goddess is School Beauty Li Mengxue!"
Chen Mo still looked at Jiang Tao with suspicion:
"That's not convincing. Just today, you've tried to hug me at least three times. If you say you don't like men, who'd believe it?"
Although Chen Mo knew that Jiang Tao really didn't like men and his orientation was fine, this habit of Jiang Tao's had to change. If someone saw it in public, it could easily cause misunderstandings.
"Mozi, no, Brother Mo, I know I was wrong. I won't do it again!"
Jiang Tao quickly surrendered; he didn't want his good brother to misunderstand either.
"Fine! I'll give you the chance! But even though this is a training room, there are cameras. If we hug and someone sees, what will they think?" Chen Mo said irritably.
"Damn, I almost forgot about that!" Jiang Tao slapped his thigh, suddenly realizing the gravity of the situation. "Mozi, lucky you dodged. If someone really saw us, our reputation would be ruined!"
The two quickly dropped the topic and moved on to discussing cultivation.
Jiang Tao listed the problems he'd encountered while practicing Basic Saber Technique, one by one, for Chen Mo to hear.
After listening, Chen Mo had Jiang Tao demonstrate the moves, then combined that with his own insights to help Jiang Tao correct them.
A few minutes later, Jiang Tao felt enlightened: "Mozi, I get it now! Let's stop here. I'll fix the earlier problems first, solidify them, and then tackle the rest."
"Bite off more than you can chew, and you'll choke. I need to digest this."
Chen Mo nodded slightly. "Alright, go ahead!"
Jiang Tao picked up his Wooden Saber, walked to the other side of the training room, and began practicing.
Chen Mo also grabbed his saber, intending to push his saber technique to perfection in the remaining training time.
He glanced at the proficiency for Basic Saber Technique—it had reached 423, needing just 77 more points to max out.
All the individual moves were perfected, but the transitions between moves and the basic combos weren't there yet.
That meant he had to execute the entire set from start to finish, move by move—performing a full Basic Saber Technique sequence.
At that moment, Chen Mo realized that relying solely on analyzing moves in isolation had its shortcomings. Combining both approaches would yield better results.
Without wasting words, Chen Mo began practicing directly.
On the first pass, he slowed down, activated Spiritual Perception, and carefully observed every change in his body during each move transition.
Which muscles exerted too much force, which lacked strength, where the motion felt stiff—all these issues needed fixing one by one.
Otherwise, his saber technique would never reach perfection.
The first pass revealed several problems, which Chen Mo corrected during the second pass.
Then the second pass uncovered new issues, fixed in the third.
And so, Chen Mo practiced over and over, the proficiency of Basic Saber Technique steadily increasing.
"Practicing Basic Saber Technique. Basic Saber Technique proficiency +1."
"Practicing Basic Saber Technique. Basic Saber Technique proficiency +1."
Chen Mo's Basic Saber Technique grew smoother and smoother, gradually pushing toward perfection.
Until the training room's alert sounded:
"Training room time: five minutes remaining. If you wish to continue training, please renew at the console. If not, please take your valuables and leave."
"Loitering beyond five minutes is not permitted. Otherwise, the martial arts hall will take compulsory measures."
Chen Mo ignored it completely and kept practicing Basic Saber Technique.
