Background / History

Jiang Tao was Chen Mo's desk mate for all three years of high school and his regular sparring partner in practical martial arts classes. His father was a Martial Artist, giving Jiang Tao better family conditions and access to more nutrition than Chen Mo, but he never acted superior because of it 11.

When Chen Mo was injured, Jiang Tao repeatedly messaged him, called Chen Mo's father, and wanted to visit him. After Chen Mo recovered, Jiang Tao came to his home early in the morning with gifts for Chen Wan'er, including snacks and Nutritional Supplements for her health 11 18.

Jiang Tao trained with Chen Mo at Wuji Martial Arts Gym, where they rented cultivation rooms, sparred, tested strength, and compared their saber techniques. He offered to help investigate Chen Mo's mysterious attack but backed down when Chen Mo refused to put him in danger 19 20 23.

At school, Jiang Tao repeatedly defended Chen Mo when classmates mocked his crippled Dantian or tried to exploit his status. He refused Liang Feng and Ma Jun on Chen Mo's behalf when they tried to guilt-trip Chen Mo into giving free guidance, and he argued with classmates who called Chen Mo a waste 53 101.

After Chen Mo became much stronger, Jiang Tao was bullied by Song Hao's group. Chen Mo helped him force apologies from the bullies, and Jiang Tao later demonstrated his own growth by defeating Song Hao and three teammates in a match 116 316.

During Training Camp, Jiang Tao teamed with Lin Xiaoyan and others to hunt Fierce Beasts. Their team matured through combat, showing vigilance even when Chen Mo suddenly appeared to help them dismantle a Tusked Boar corpse 232.

Later, Jiang Tao entered the Lost City abyssal rift alone, underestimated the danger, ran out of True Essence and pills, and was nearly killed by a pack of Fierce Beasts. Chen Mo arrived in time, healed him, scolded him, and used the crisis as a turning point to rebuild Jiang Tao's cultivation and raise him to Martial Emperor 490 491 492 493 495.

Appearance

Jiang Tao is exceptionally tall and muscular, with a physique that contrasts sharply with Chen Mo's earlier smaller frame 11 26.

  • Stands about 1.9 meters tall 11.
  • Has bulging muscles and a brawny build 11.
  • Initially appears physically stronger than Chen Mo, though Chen Mo later surpasses him in actual blood energy and strength 26.
  • Uses combat suits during higher-level field training; Chen Mo gives him a new one after rescuing him in the abyssal rift 491.

Personality

Jiang Tao is cheerful, straightforward, and not deeply scheming. Chen Mo feels at ease around him because he is sincere and treats him as a close brother rather than a social stepping stone 11.

He is generous but knows Chen Mo's principles. He has lent Chen Mo cultivation resources, brings gifts for Chen Wan'er, and later accepts Chen Mo's help only after being pushed to do so 11 18 167.

Jiang Tao is loyal and protective. He defends Chen Mo against classmates, worries about Chen Mo's Dantian, and once promises that after becoming a Martial Artist, he will search outside the city for a heavenly treasure to repair it 53 100 101.

He is also cautious around people with powerful backgrounds. Although he suspects noble scions may be connected to Chen Mo's attack, he chooses not to act without proof because his father is only a low-rank Martial Artist and his family could be ruined 22.

After nearly dying in the Lost City, Jiang Tao becomes more resolute. He accepts that begging Fierce Beasts would be useless and decides to fight to the end, later vowing never to enter an abyssal rift alone again 490 492.
