Zhao Yun looked at the Taotie Warriors surrounding him and said, "Come fight."
The Taotie Warriors immediately charged at Zhao Yun. With a swing of his spear, Zhao Yun pierced a Taotie Warrior in the sky, then sent it flying all the way toward another Taotie Warrior on a rooftop, pinning it to the wall.
Seeing that Zhao Yun had no weapon, the Taotie Warriors attacked from every direction.
Moving like the wind, Zhao Yun began to shift positions. One Taotie Warrior struck at Zhao Yun and shouted excitedly, "Got him!"
A voice sounded behind the Taotie Warrior. "Too weak." With a boom, the Taotie Warrior was sent flying sideways. On closer inspection, its head had already caved in.
Zhao Yun vanished again, leaving an afterimage where he had stood.
He reappeared behind another Taotie Warrior. His spear had already pierced through one warrior's chest. Zhao Yun flicked the spearhead, flinging the lifeless Taotie Warrior at the last two.
Immediately after, the spear in his hand shot forth like a dragon. A faint dragon's roar sounded as it swallowed the final two Taotie Warriors. Zhao Yun revealed himself, while the Taotie Warriors behind him had been shredded to pieces.
Then Zhao Yun frowned and looked toward the sky. "Found you."
Zhao Yun raised his spear and hurled a streak of silver light six hundred meters into the air before him. "You've watched for so long. Isn't it time you came out? Don't you know any manners?"
"Clang!" The sound of refined steel colliding rang out as ripples spread through the air. Twenty Taotie Warriors clad in white armor appeared in the sky. At their head stood a figure in black robes.
On the Hyperion...
The Command Room was packed to the point that there was barely room left. Kiana, Baili Shouyue, Grey Wolf, and fifty Cute Pets had turned the Command Room into a noisy chatterbox.
Su Jiu stared at the video with a pained expression.
Then he looked at Su Jiu sitting on the sofa, with a Cute Pet on either side of him, one on his lap, babbling away, while a little duck head occasionally bobbed past his line of sight.
What, you were asking where the duck came from? Su Er had brought it back for Su Yi.
The key was that Kiana had decided to chime in with her own idea, making Su Jiu want to beat this white-haired dumpling to death for leading the children astray.
Kiana crossed her arms and looked down. "Mm, they're a little heavy." Then she looked at Su Jiu's head.
Kiana said, "Mm, that seems doable."
Kiana said, "Captain, Captain, you're the best."
Kiana said, "Hold them up for me, just once. Hehehehe."
(Hehe, imagine it yourself.)
Baili Shouyue said, "Good idea."
Su Jiu said, "What the hell do you mean, good idea? Mm, they're a little heavy—ah, damn it, white-haired dumpling, you're asking for it."
Grey Wolf said, "The Captain seems angry."
Kiana said, "Sit properly, sit properly. The Captain is seriously pissed."
In an instant, everyone scattered, leaving only a duck head that occasionally swayed in front of Su Jiu's eyes.
Su Jiu spoke in a stern, serious tone. "Watch carefully and learn well. General Zhao is about to fight a big boss."
Looking at the enemies who had appeared, Zhao Yun calmly said, "You are a god."
Nos said disdainfully, "Insignificant ant, who allowed you to face me?" After saying that, Nos released an overwhelming aura toward Zhao Yun.
With a casual grasp, Zhao Yun summoned the Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix Spear back into his hand. Ignoring Nos's aura, he said, "Put away those petty tricks of yours. If you want to fight me, then use real weapons. Everything else is nothing but ghosts and monsters."
Zhao Yun did not waste words with Nos. A strike of Thunder Dragon shot toward him.
Nos had still been looking down on Zhao Yun, never expecting that when Zhao Yun said he would attack, he truly would not waste another word.
Nos hurriedly pulled out his weapon to defend himself. He managed to block the strike, after all, he was a god.
But the Taotie Warriors behind him suffered. Six who failed to react in time were directly blasted apart by the energy and fell to the ground.
Looking at the skull-headed staff-like weapon Nos had drawn, Zhao Yun mocked, "Don't tell me that weapon was made from your own head?"
Even as he mocked him, Zhao Yun did not forget to follow up with another attack. A sweeping strike lashed toward Nos.
Nos turned and blocked Zhao Yun's attack without moving an inch.
But was it really that simple? Dragon Swings Its Tail! Zhao Yun released the spear with his right hand, and it swept through a forty-five-degree arc before he caught the Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix Spear with his left hand. In an instant, another five Taotie Warriors behind Nos were cut in half and fell from the sky.
Having suffered losses twice, the Taotie Warriors finally understood Zhao Yun's plan. They hurriedly scattered to avoid another large-scale casualty count.
Nos naturally realized that he had been played as well. With a wave of his skull-headed weapon, he fired a stream of gray gas. Zhao Yun performed a backflip to widen the distance, not forgetting to taunt him, "If all gods look like this, then you might as well let the monkeys from my country take the job. They'd be smarter than you."
Nos waved a hand. Centered on him, grayish-white mist spread across half the sky over Juxia City. Nos spoke expressionlessly, "Put away those little tricks. I was playing with those millions of years ago."
"Tut, tut, tut. The Captain was right, crafty bastards are everywhere." As Zhao Yun spoke, he sensed the changes within the mist.
"Not bad. This move affects the mind and traps people in illusions." Zhao Yun spoke as he charged at Nos.
On the Juxia Aircraft Carrier...
Du Kao, Yu Qin, and Lian Feng all watched the video before them with grave expressions.
Du Kao asked, "Yu Qin, have you analyzed it? Who are the two people fighting?"
Yu Qin rapidly tapped on the virtual panel and said, "The man in the black robe is one of Death God Karl's subordinates, a god known as Wailing of the Dead. The other person's identity is unknown. We only know he is a second-generation super soldier. I don't know why he thinks he can challenge a god. Is he not afraid of dying?"
Lian Feng spoke at that moment. "I don't think he is seeking death. He should have some kind of trump card. Look, none of those Taotie Warriors have come out."
Looking at the screen, Du Kao said, "Doesn't Death God like creating death? Those Taotie Warriors were probably killed by Nos's friendly fire. A few Taotie Warriors probably mean nothing to a god."
In the battle, Zhao Yun excitedly attacked Nos. The two fought fiercely amid the mist, and those outside could see nothing.
Bursts of bird cries rang out within the mist, occasionally mixed with wails.
Within the mist, Zhao Yun's spear carried bird cries as it attacked Nos. Nos would vanish and reappear from time to time, and each place where he appeared left behind a white shadow that soon faded.
Every time Nos appeared, Zhao Yun sensed his position in advance. Each time, Nos had to face Zhao Yun's storm-like barrage. Yet whenever the spear pierced Nos's body, it would immediately recover.
Nos did not forget to say, "It's useless. I have a divine body."
At that moment, countless white phantoms suddenly appeared in the sky. Waves of wailing sounded as a massive mental shock assaulted Zhao Yun's mind.
Nos laughed loudly. "Enjoy the wailing of the dead."
Nos had not even been smug for three seconds before a bird cry rang out. Then a second bird cry sounded. More and more bird cries rose up. Zhao Yun looked at Nos as if he were an idiot and said, "Underestimating China will cost you. Do you know what a phoenix is?"
Nos said, "What?"
A high, clear Phoenix Cry rang through the gray mist. A Phoenix Phantom appeared alongside countless birds, circling the Phoenix Phantom as though paying homage to it.
Zhao Yun leaped up and merged into the Phoenix Phantom.
Martial Skill: Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix.
Zhao Yun's form split into countless images. Another resounding Phoenix Cry rang out, and the phantom phoenix charged at Nos.
Nos was shocked and vaguely sensed danger. With no time to react, he swung the skull-headed weapon in his hand. All the mist condensed into an enormous skull, meeting the Phoenix Phantom rushing toward him.
Above Juxia City, a gigantic skull and a phoenix locked in a stalemate. Gray mist filled one side of the sky, while the other was crimson like the morning glow.
Looking at the skull before him, Zhao Yun shouted, "Break!" Another Phoenix Cry rang out.
The high cry shattered the skull. On a rooftop, Zhao Yun knelt on one knee and leaned on the Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix Spear. Looking at Nos in the distance, whose face had only turned slightly pale, he said, "As expected of a god. That only used up too much energy."
Nos looked at the pale-faced Zhao Yun in the distance, and killing intent rose within him.
Nos thought, With someone like this on Earth, he may affect my god Carl's plans.
Nos expressionlessly swung his weapon. Countless skulls of varying sizes charged murderously toward Zhao Yun.
Zhao Yun stood up and smiled at the incoming skulls.
Spatial ripples appeared above Zhao Yun's head, and a crescent moon shot out.
The silver-white crescent sped toward the skulls in the sky, causing bursts of energy storms to explode overhead.
The crescent shattered every skull and flew toward Nos. Nos raised his weapon to block it.
Seeing this, Zhao Yun's lips curved upward. The crescent collided with Nos's weapon. "Crack!" Nos hurriedly twisted sideways.
The crescent swept past, severing Nos's weapon along with one of his arms. If Nos had not moved aside so quickly, the crescent would have sliced him in half.
After landing its strike, the crescent flew back behind Zhao Yun.
Nos said in shock, "A Silver Wing-class weapon."
"Wrong. It isn't. But it's time to end this." Zhao Yun spoke teasingly.
Combination Skill: Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl.
The crescent spun at high speed, radiating silver-white light like a miniature moon.
Zhao Yun threw the spear in his hand, transforming it into a hundred-meter crimson dragon phantom. Zhao Yun followed close behind.
Martial Skill: Swimming Dragon Eight Steps.
Zhao Yun transformed into a white swimming dragon, intertwining with the crimson dragon phantom as they chased the miniature moon formed from the crescent and charged toward Nos.
Nos sensed danger, deadly danger. A hundred-meter-tall skull phantom rose up and enclosed him. The skull became increasingly solid as endless grayish-white mist rose and joined it. Ghostly blue flames appeared in the skull's eye sockets. It became more and more real, until even its white bones could be seen.
At that moment, the white miniature moon smashed open a gap in the skull. The two hundred-meter dragons followed immediately, tearing the skull apart through the opening.
"Clang!" A spear stabbed into the middle of a street in Juxia City.
The crowd below watched in terror. Since it was an aerial battle, the city beneath had not suffered damage.
"Bang, bang, bang." More than a dozen Taotie Warrior corpses fell from the sky.
Zhao Yun descended before his spear. Looking at the Taotie corpses falling down, he spat and said, "Damn dogs, trying to run? Did you think I wouldn't notice?"
A streak of silver light flashed as the crescent returned behind Zhao Yun. The setting sun shone down, highlighting Zhao Yun's heroic bearing. The crowd stared blankly at him, while a girl mechanically took out her phone. "Click, click."
Zhao Yun paid no attention and asked in the Guild Channel, "Captain, did you catch him?"
Su Jiu said, "No. He ran too fast. By the time the crescent got there, he had already escaped through space."
Su Jiu said, "Forget it, it's not a big deal. He is a god who has lived for tens of thousands of years. Who doesn't have some means of saving their life?"
Zhao Yun said, "What a pity."
After finishing the conversation, Zhao Yun walked into a wormhole and vanished before the crowd.
The next chapter will reveal the crescent's stats in the author's notes.
