Background / History

Zhao Yun is summoned by Su Jiu using a Random Character Card and immediately recognizes Su Jiu as his lord. After learning of Earth’s position among China, the Angels, Lieyang, the Taotie, and the Demons, he maps the competing forces and urges Utopia to establish its own position before pursuing alliances. Su Jiu entrusts him with the group’s deployments and arrangements. 10 11

Initially, Zhao Yun rigidly maintains a master-subordinate distance from the crew, even insisting that a distinction must exist between superior and subordinate. Su Jiu instead wants a comrade who can build Utopia alongside everyone else; Zhao Yun gradually becomes more relaxed around the group. 11 12 14

He later discovers Zhao Xin’s Zhao-family connection and personally takes responsibility for training him. Zhao Yun also saves the mute artist Ouyang Nasa from wolves in the mountains, ensures her safe return to Tianhe City, and develops a relationship with her. Zhao Yun is analytical, decisive, and deeply loyal to Su Jiu’s goal of building Utopia. He rapidly assesses political and military threats, assigns roles according to each teammate’s strengths, and can identify enemy strategy during active combat. 10 11 50 53

His loyalty does not prevent him from speaking frankly. He challenges enemies with taunts, debates ideals and freedom with Liang Bing, and pushes Zhao Xin through harsh training while adapting his instruction to Zhao Xin’s different energy system. 16 17 22
