The twilight sun lazily shone down on Rin, the ponytail peeking out from her helmet swaying in the wind. Passersby on the street smiled habitually at the sight of the girl riding her little motorcycle, while a few who didn't know her stared curiously at the scene.
Looking at Fuyuki City, now so peaceful and harmonious, no one who didn't know better would ever guess that just three years ago, a disaster had nearly destroyed the city. Human forgetfulness was truly something.
Rin rode her little motorcycle through the streets and alleys, quickly arriving at the elementary school Sakura attended.
Ignoring the old man reading a newspaper at the gate, Rin skillfully steered the motorcycle into the campus.
The old man put down his paper, shook his head in exasperation, and shouted after Rin.
"Hey, Rin, you're driving on school grounds—be careful!"
Without turning around, Rin let go of one handlebar and raised her hand to wave.
"Don't worry, old man!"
Soon, Rin reached the Kyudo Club on campus. She casually pulled out the key, stuck her finger through the keyring, and spun it as she walked inside.
Sakura, drenched in sweat from kyudo practice, had just stepped out of the shower. She tilted her head, using a towel to dry her smooth black hair, and was about to head to the changing room to swap back into her uniform.
"Sister? You're here."
"Yeah, Sakura!"
Seeing Sakura fresh out of the shower, her fair skin flushed pink, Rin hugged her tightly and buried her face in Sakura's hair, taking a deep breath.
"Mm, Sakura, you still smell so good."
Caught off guard by Rin's sudden attack, Sakura shyly pushed her away.
"Sister, stop it. What if someone comes out and sees us?"
"Tch, who cares? If anyone talks, I'll beat them up good."
In the girls' changing room, Sakura finished changing, holding her school bag in one hand and linking arms with Rin as they walked out.
Just then, Shirou and Shinji, fresh from their own showers, came over chatting and laughing.
Their smiles froze, and their eyes darted away, avoiding Rin's gaze.
Seeing their expressions, Rin said irritably.
"Hey, you two, why do you look at me like I'm a ghost?"
Shirou quickly waved his hands in panic.
"No, absolutely not. How would we dare, Rin? Right, Shinji?"
"Yeah, Rin, how would we dare?"
"Hmph, whatever. Sakura, let's go."
Shirou and Shinji watched Rin and Sakura leave, patting their chests in relief as they muttered under their breath.
"That violent girl—who wouldn't be scared of her? One wrong move and you're covered in lumps."
Outside the Kyudo Club, Rin easily swung a leg over the motorcycle, inserted the key, put on her helmet, and took Sakura's school bag to place it on the footboard. Sakura, ever ladylike, smoothed her skirt and sat sideways on the back, arms around Rin's waist.
On the twilight road, Sakura hugged Rin's waist, her cheek pressed against Rin's back, watching the ponytail dance in the wind as she spoke.
"Sister, now that you've dropped out, are you really not going to school anymore?"
"Yeah, it's too boring, too much of a waste of time. I'm going to be a Magus anyway, that's all I can be. Speaking of which, Sakura, why don't you drop out too? No need to wait for winter break—I can take you to Misaki City tomorrow to find that witch I've always told you about and become her apprentice."
"Well, Sister, I still want to go to school."
"That's fine, Sakura. If you want to go, go. We'll go when you're on winter break in a few days. And if you don't want to, that's okay too. I'll always protect you, Sakura."
"Mm, Sister."
Sakura, leaning against Rin's back, listened to her sister's reassuring words and felt her warmth. A faint blush crept onto her face. 'Sister, I'm so glad I have you.'
As the motorcycle pulled into the Tohsaka Estate, Rin told Sakura to go inside first while she pushed the bike into the garage.
Tokiomi Tohsaka, sitting in the living room watching TV, turned and smiled as the two girls walked in.
"You're back. Come take a look."
Tokiomi pointed at the TV, which was playing a food show. The dishes on screen looked incredibly appetizing.
He continued.
"How about it? Daddy just learned from watching TV. Want me to show off my skills and make you a special dinner tonight?"
Looking at Tokiomi, Rin shuddered in disgust. At some point, her father had become obsessed with cooking, but lacking any talent for it, everything he made was basically toxic chemical waste.
Rin rolled her eyes and said sarcastically.
"No thanks, Dad. We'll just eat what Mother makes. You can enjoy your own creations yourself. Your daughter would rather not die young."
Tokiomi, crushed by his daughter's sharp tongue, slumped onto the sofa in defeat, muttering to himself.
"I make lethal food... my daughter hates me..."
Sakura covered her mouth with a smile, watching the now-daily routine of Rin's biting remarks and Tokiomi's dejection. She thought back to the past and looked at Rin with gratitude. 'Thanks to Sister, our family keeps moving in a better direction.'
Sensitive to Sakura's gaze, Rin turned and gave her a strange look.
"Sakura? Why are you looking at me like that? It feels weird."
'Sister really is still the same as ever,' Sakura thought as she spoke.
"It's nothing, Sister. I just think you look especially cute today."
Hearing Sakura's compliment, Rin hugged her own face in tsundere fashion.
"Ah, Sakura, you—why would you suddenly say that? Cute? How could I be cute..."
Then she shyly rushed out of the living room.
"I am the lapdogs of the Heavenly Dao."
I, a middle school third-year, have received a proper education. I will never grovel before others or become a stinking lapdog!
Li Sijin knelt before the assembled Heavenly Dao and said just that.
Chapter 35: Rin Tohsaka Begins Her Type-Moon Journey—Before Departure!
Night fell. Rin lay on her bed, the silvery moonlight casting a glow over her, making her look like a spirit who had wandered into the mortal world.
She stretched out her hand, gazing at the back of it, her eyes vacant as she stared at the three Command Spells left over from the last Holy Grail War. Her mind, however, replayed the dinner conversation from earlier.
Tohsaka Estate, dinner time.
In the dining room, the entire Tohsaka family sat around the round table, enjoying their meal. Suddenly, Tokiomi Tohsaka set down his wine glass and asked Rin.
"Rin, are you really planning to take Sakura to find that witch as a master during her summer break? And are you sure you don't need me to accompany you?"
"No need, Father. I'll just take Kirei along. With him there, it'll be fine. Besides, Father, the Fairy Tale Spell I 'developed' is still far too different from true Fairy Tale Magecraft. Even Sakura's Imaginary Number Attribute can't fix that. It just so happens there's a reclusive Fairy Tale Witch in Misaki City, Japan. Isn't this the perfect opportunity?"
"Rin, have you considered that with your current bounty on the Black Market, once those mages find out..."
At that, Rin shuddered in disgust. She was right—the mage with the highest bounty in the world right now was Rin Tohsaka. Though the Fuyuki City incident had been covered up by multiple parties, leaving ordinary people oblivious, the magical energy released during the final battle had been sensed by at least half of Japan's mages. No matter how well it was hidden, some details of the Holy Grail War had leaked. Tempted by the promise of a universal wish-granting device, fake Holy Grail rituals had begun popping up worldwide.
And since Kotomine Kirei returned to London and publicly declared that he was giving up the title of prodigy, instead proclaiming that the true prodigy was Rin Tohsaka, whom he had met in Japan, Rin—as the heir of one of the Three Great Families—saw her value on the Black Market skyrocket. Families hoping to use her as a vessel to breed the next generation of magically gifted offspring even placed a bounty of one billion dollars for her capture alive.
Of course, Kirei's real goal was to use this publicity to show that the El-Melloi family not only had him, a recognized genius, but also a good relationship with Rin Tohsaka, who far surpassed him. To that end, Kirei somehow found the Jewel Old Man and got him to issue a public warning to the magical world: "Anyone who moves against the Tohsaka family is my enemy."
When these news, along with an apology letter from Kirei and a Jewel Sword gifted by the Jewel Old Man, arrived at the Tohsaka Estate, Rin was almost in tears. She had been thoroughly screwed over by Kirei. But since she owed him a favor, she had no choice but to swallow her anger.
"It's fine. I plan to hire a Grand Magus first before heading to find the witch as a master. And Kirei will be with us. By the time those 'mercenaries' get wind of it, Sakura and I will have at least one Executor, a Grand Magus, and a Fairy Tale Witch on our side. I don't think anyone would dare make a move against that lineup—unless they're not human or a Magician."
Tokiomi Tohsaka nodded in relief, looking at his eldest daughter with satisfaction.
"Rin, since you already have a plan, I won't ask more. But be careful, understood?"
Rin raised a hand, giving a thumbs-up, and flashed a bright smile with her neat, white teeth.
"Don't worry, Father."
Rin pulled herself out of her memories, lowered her hand, and opened the System Panel she hadn't touched in a long time.
Compared to three years ago, the system now had a new exchange function for Noble Phantasm Crafting, allowing her to learn methods for creating certain magical outfits.
According to the system log, Rin had gained two exchange records and one saved exchange slot since the Holy Grail War.
At the end of the Holy Grail War, she had suddenly received three exchange opportunities. She used two of them to exchange for the 'Tlaloc's Spear' used by a certain individual from the A Certain Magical Index world, and the crafting method for the Shorthand Codex Noble Phantasm.
Among these, the 'Tlaloc's Spear'—originally modeled after the Aztec War God—had been modified over the years into the 'Spear of Venus,' now based on the Mesopotamian Mythology goddess Ishtar.
Though Rin's power had grown significantly, she now faced her own troubles. While the spells from the A Certain Magical Index world were, in some ways, more destructive and effective than modern Type-Moon magecraft, the differences in mythology and history between the two worlds meant that most spells, even after modification, lacked any 'mystery' in the Type-Moon world. They were essentially equivalent to ordinary modern magecraft. This left Rin at a natural disadvantage when facing opponents who wielded ancient magecraft or even higher levels of 'mystery.'
Thus, this journey wasn't just about finding a master for Sakura. Rin also hoped to exchange ideas with other mages along the way and find a solution to the problem of her spells' 'mystery' level.
The more she thought about it, the less she could sleep. Throwing off the covers, she revealed her body in a thin nightgown, stepped barefoot onto the soft carpet, and walked to the desk in her room.
Opening the drawer, she ignored the Holy Grail and Jewel Sword inside, casually picking up the Soul Fragment of the Winter Saintess. Under the moonlight, she began studying it again.
The next morning, the weather was clear. The sun hung high in the sky, casting its light over the peaceful and tranquil Fuyuki City.
Knock, knock, knock. A few urgent raps on the door woke the still-sleeping Rin Tohsaka.
From outside came Aoi Tohsaka's voice.
"Rin, time to get up! If you don't hurry, Sakura will be late."
Rin sat up groggily, rubbing her messy hair, then suddenly jolted awake. She glanced at the electronic clock on the desk and called out in a panic.
"I'll be right up, Mother! Oh, Mother, could you come in and help me brush my hair?"
Aoi, who had been about to turn and leave, shook her head helplessly at Rin's plea. She turned back and opened the door. As soon as she entered, she saw the desk cluttered with a mess of magecraft-related draft papers.
"Rin, were you studying magecraft late again last night? Sigh, I've told you so many times not to study magecraft at night, but you never listen to Mother. It makes me so sad."
Rin rubbed her tangled hair, looking helplessly at Aoi, who was clearly putting on a dramatic act.
After hastily washing up and dressing, Rin hurried to the dining room. Seeing her family already eating, she scratched her head apologetically and pulled out a chair to sit down.
"Good morning, Father, Mother, Sakura."
Sakura looked at her flustered sister and said helplessly.
"Good morning, Sister. Did you study magecraft late again last night?"
"Ahem, Sakura, I only stayed up a little later than usual last night. Not that late..."
A quick recommendation for a fellow author's book!

Section 36, Chapter 35: I, Rin Tohsaka, Have Come to Kanfushi City Today—Touko Aozaki
Kanfushi City Shinkansen Station.
As the Shinkansen arrived, Rin stepped off the train holding Sakura's hand. She carefully kept Sakura close, gripping her hand tightly, covertly activating Reinforcement Magic, pushing through the surging crowd while shouting back at Kirei Kotomine, who was carrying their luggage behind them.
"Kotomine, keep up."
By noon, having just grabbed a quick lunch at some random shop, Rin, Sakura, and Kirei Kotomine were walking through the streets of Kanfushi City.
"Kotomine, you actually ate that level of spicy Mapo Tofu?"
Kirei Kotomine, carrying the luggage behind Rin and Sakura, looked at Rin's back with confusion.
"Rin, is there a problem? That's always been my favorite food. But the flavor here is mediocre. Rin, when we get back to Fuyuki City, I'll take you to Hongzhou Yansui Hall Taishan—that place has the most authentic Mapo Tofu."
Rin wordlessly turned back and shot Kirei Kotomine a glare, then stopped and looked at a half-finished building by the roadside.
"We're here. Kotomine, I'm counting on you for the lookout. This one's a bit hard to deal with."
