Was that black-robed man who controlled the crows last night also a spellcasting adventurer?
But when Wu Heng had gone over, he had not seen him use any spells.
He only knew that the man had controlled the crows to charge at him, then Wu Heng had smashed them to death with his flashlight.
This staff was different from the steward's cane.
A cane was straight and could be used for support. This staff was longer, curved like a tree root.
Still, it looked fairly good, with intricate patterns and silver ornaments.
The other equipment included a longsword and three sets of leather armor.
Their style and workmanship were both excellent. They would all be considered above-average equipment if placed in a shop.
The grenades were all Poison Smoke Grenades, while the scrolls consisted of two Blazing Slash scrolls and a Feather Fall scroll.
Blazing Slash could imbue a weapon with fire, while Feather Fall reduced damage from falling from great heights.
There was no telling whose bodies they had been searched from.
"Wu Heng, see what you need," Ortluk said.
Of the eight members of the Divine Punishment Cult, Wu Heng had killed seven himself.
The last one appeared to have had his head cut off by Ortluk's final strike, but Wu Heng had already killed him with his pistol by then. Even the Experience Points notification had appeared.
Ortluk had not known that and had still gone forward to finish him off.
It did not matter who had killed him. Ortluk landing the final blow was good too; it would have been a little strange if Wu Heng had killed them all.
Even so, Wu Heng still had priority when choosing the spoils.
"I want this staff. As for the leather armor, I want one set for Bartholomew too," Wu Heng said directly.
The reason Ortluk had left the staff aside was because it had been meant for him in the first place.
The leather armor was for Bartholomew.
After several battles, his leather armor had already been stabbed to shreds.
Rather than send it to the Armor Shop for repairs, it was better to replace it outright.
"Alright. What about you, Cavina?"
Cavina took a One-Handed Sword and a set of leather armor.
The remaining leather armor and the two scrolls naturally went to Ortluk.
The scrolls were no less valuable than weapons, so the three of them ended up with roughly equal shares.
Then they each received three Poison Smoke Grenades, while the bonus and money from selling the spoils were divided as well.
Looking at the heavy Money Pouch, which held enough Silver Coins to number in the thousands,
everyone felt a little happy.
Who would dislike having more money?
After the spoils had been divided,
Ortluk continued, "The High-Grade Item reward needs to be registered before it can be claimed. Wait for my message, and we'll go choose our rewards together then."
"Alright!" The two nodded.
After casually chatting for a few moments about the Adventurer Team's development,
Wu Heng said directly, "Captain, can I use the Guild to turn Bawudong's corpse into a skeleton?"
Upon hearing that, Ortluk and Cavina both froze.
Then they looked at him in surprise.
Bawudong alone had been enough to fight an entire Adventurer Team.
If Wu Heng transformed him, that combat power would be added directly to his side. Together with skeleton Bartholomew and that weapon,
it was somewhat terrifying!
"I can't say for sure either," Ortluk said.
Wu Heng was different from ordinary adventurers. He was restricted by Blackstone Town in terms of his profession.
After all, they had signed so many laws.
Even if the Adventurer's Guild agreed, Wu Heng would not be able to legally obtain the corpse if Blackstone Town did not agree.
Would Blackstone Town allow a Necromancer to possess such a powerful Undead Retainer?
If it really went through, many people would probably lose sleep over it.
"What if I exchange my High-Grade Item reward for it? Is there any possibility?" Wu Heng added.
"I can't say for sure either. I can mention it to the steward and see what he says," Ortluk continued.
Wu Heng nodded. There was nothing else to be done; he did not have any better solution either.
After leaving the Adventurer's Guild, Wu Heng was still thinking about the Level 12 corpse.
I should have shown Moira the pistol earlier. Leaving a better impression might have made her less particular about this corpse.
But that was merely wishful thinking.
Even if he gave her a pistol, it might not necessarily make this happen.
He would take things one step at a time. Some matters were not entirely within his control.
After returning to his residence, he changed Bartholomew into the new leather armor and headed straight for the Zombie World.
Zombie World, outside the West Gate.
Clatter, clatter, clatter!
Dense footsteps rang out from the street ahead.
Then a large mass of Zombies came charging over, packed together and roaring furiously.
"Spears forward, now!" Wu Heng rapidly gave the order.
These Zombies seemed as though they had been hiding.
The previous stretch of road had been completely quiet, but suddenly a huge crowd of Zombies rushed out. There had not even been time to deploy a formation.
The spear-wielding skeletons moved swiftly, taking up the front row with their spears aimed ahead.
Grease Spell
Grease spread across a four-meter square patch of ground. The Zombies charging at the front slipped and instantly fell flat on their backs.
Before they could get up, the Zombies behind them rushed forward.
They too fell in waves across the ground.
Wu Heng raised the staff and pointed it forward. A blue energy spear condensed and shot toward the enemy.
With a soft puff, it struck a Zombie and formed a blue electric arc that successively hit three or four nearby targets.
Wu Heng froze at the sight.
This Witch Arrow Spell seemed to have a lightning effect. It felt pretty good.
One Witch Arrow Spell did not stop the Zombies' advance.
More Zombies trampled over their companions' bodies and continued charging forward.
With a bang, the Zombies crashed directly into the skeleton formation, shoving the front-row skeletons backward.
Zombies and skeletons packed together. There was no longer any talk of formation.
"Attack."
Wu Heng gave the order.
The skeletons surged forward in waves. The two sides crowded toward the center, and the sounds of chopping and tearing echoed throughout the entire area.
Skeleton Dogs weaved through the crowd, while Sword One and Sword Two joined the battle as well.
Amid the fierce slaughter, the skeletons gradually gained the upper hand.
Your level has increased to Level 4. Intelligence +1, Constitution +1, Mental Power slightly increased.
The notification appeared. He had reached Level 4.
That eased some of the heartache he felt whenever a skeleton died.
His Intelligence and Constitution had increased.
In Wu Heng's view, both were extremely useful attributes.
The battle continued for a while before gradually nearing its end.
Corpses and Shattered Bones had piled into small hills, resembling Purgatory on earth.
The Skeleton Warriors were covered in blood as they returned to Standby State.
Wu Heng looked over the surrounding situation. After confirming there was no danger, he continued, "Bartholomew, go check the commercial street."
Bartholomew quickly left and ran into the distance.
Before long, Bartholomew ran back from afar and made a gesture indicating that there was no danger.
"You stay on standby," Wu Heng told the skeletons beside him, then said to Bartholomew, "Take me over there."
Bartholomew led him forward and climbed up a two-story building. From there, they could see the commercial street in the distance.
The sight of the commercial street made Wu Heng's heart tighten slightly.
Huge numbers of Zombies wandered aimlessly through the streets. Their black hair was matted together, while human skin and rotten flesh covered the ground.
So many people died?
