The Money Cat's carriage was parked at the intersection outside the crowded district.
Wu Heng climbed into the carriage. Yuri slowly followed, placing a thick cushion on the wooden step before carefully sitting down with a grimace.
Slyther glanced at him and asked softly, "Did you make my child steal something?"
Sure enough, she had come to settle the score.
Wu Heng coughed lightly and immediately defended himself. "It wasn't stealing. Things were urgent, and Vice Deacon, you weren't there at the time, so we just took it first. If you had been there, you would have agreed too."
"You think you're very good at making excuses?"
"No..."
"Since you took it, tell me what price you intend to pay," Slyther continued.
"How about I just buy it?"
Slyther looked at him and nodded. "Fine. A Vice Deacon's investigation assistance certificate—500 Silver Coins. Not expensive, right?"
"Fine. I'll go get the money for you," Wu Heng said directly.
Slyther froze, looking at him with some confusion.
Given his living conditions and usual habits, he did not seem like someone who could casually produce that much money.
"The price has gone up. One thousand Silver Coins."
Wu Heng frowned at her, understanding what she meant.
Asking for money was only an excuse. She ran a Money Cat and was also the Association's Vice Deacon. There was no way she would actually demand money from him.
"What does Vice Deacon want?"
"You'll know when we get there."
The carriage continued onward, heading straight to the Association.
They passed through the main hall and corridors, arriving at the Association's morgue.
Slyther's gaze fell on one of the corpses. "I need to ask him a few questions."
Wu Heng understood. From the very beginning, she had intended for him to cast Talk with Dead.
