Background

Douma rescued Kotoha and her infant son, Inosuke, and brought them into his household. Although Douma was a demon, he lived with Kotoha and Inosuke and showed affection toward them. 98 102

By age three, Inosuke was already repeatedly wandering into the forest alone. He wore a real boar’s head as a helmet, climbed walls, rode wild boars, and intimidated Xiaoming into treating the forest as his territory. 109 As he grew older, he continued to skip school to play “King of the Mountain,” having defeated much of the forest’s wildlife. 123

After abandoning Tsukihiko, Inosuke returned to the forest to harden himself for the Mount Fujikasane assessment. He viewed nature and combat as the route to becoming stronger enough to enter the Demon Slayer Corps. 141

Appearance

Inosuke usually conceals his face beneath a boar-head helmet and presents himself as a bare-chested, muscular fighter. Without the helmet, he has a notably fair and beautiful face that repeatedly causes others to mistake or style him as a girl. 153 160

  • Wears headgear made from a real boar’s head; its mouth can open so he can eat while wearing it. 109
  • Has a muscular build despite his delicate facial features. 153 161
  • His appearance made him highly noticeable during Xunle Company’s dance training and debut preparations. 159 164
  • Normally carries two Nichirin Blades, which he deliberately chips into serrated weapons. 207

Personality

Inosuke is fiercely prideful, impulsive, and territorial. He declares himself the King of the Mountain, treats unfamiliar people as potential challengers, and responds to insults or perceived disrespect with immediate violence. 151 208 His confidence frequently overrides common sense: he mistakes cosplayers for demons, assumes admirers are hostile, and struggles with ordinary technology such as his Corps phone. 152 161 207

He is intensely competitive, particularly with Tanjiro and Zenitsu, and measures himself through combat, speed, and demon kills. Even when badly outmatched by Rui or Gyutaro, he refuses to remain down. 168 175 Beneath his aggression, he works effectively with allies in battle and is determined to become stronger rather than accept inferiority. 151 169 191

Abilities & Skills

Beast Breathing

Inosuke is a combat prodigy capable of using Beast Breathing, a style associated with his wild, aggressive fighting methods. He quickly recognized Tanjiro’s opening in their first recorded fight together and synchronized his strike to secure a decapitation. 151

  • Second Fang: Rip and Tear — Executes a simultaneous neck strike with Tanjiro’s Water Breathing. 151
  • Fourth Fang: Splinter / Shattering Slash — Uses a descending attack against Enmu and later joins a coordinated assault on Douma. 193 238
  • Fifth Fang: Frenzied Slicing — Supports Tengen Uzui’s close-range assault against Rui. 169
  • Fights with relentless forward pressure, even after sustaining heavy hits. 168 175

Spatial Awareness

Inosuke can enter a “boar-mode navigation” state in which surrounding people and objects appear to him as three-dimensional models, allowing him to locate a target quickly. 156

  • Used the ability to identify a target’s direction during an urban mission. 156
  • His awareness is paired with unusually flexible movement and a highly resilient physique. 109 152

Physical Prowess

Inosuke displayed abnormal strength from childhood, including clearing walls and riding wild boars without injury. 109 As a Demon Slayer, he can dodge Rui’s thread attacks in mid-air and continue fighting after being violently kicked into a wall. 168

Dance and Undercover Work

Although he struggles with singing and music, Inosuke has natural talent for dance. Xunle Company’s dance teacher was impressed by his performance, and his work among dancers allowed him to overhear useful information for the investigation. 160 162

  • Was recruited for assistant training partly because of his striking appearance. 159
  • His dance performances and appearance contributed to his rapid popularity during the company operation. 164

Equipment

  • Boar-head helmet — His signature headgear, made from a real boar’s head. 109
  • Dual Nichirin Blades — He intentionally strikes the blades with stones to make them serrated, to swordsmith Kanamori’s outrage. 207
  • Demon Slayer Corps phone — Usually cracked; Inosuke initially attempts to destroy it when it rings. 151 152
  • Wisteria Spear firearms — Uses them during the operation against massed demons, competing with Zenitsu for kill count. 221

Relationships

  • Kotoha — His mother. She worries constantly about his dangerous behavior and later searches the forest desperately when she fears for his safety. 109 137
  • Douma — His adoptive father figure and a demon whom Inosuke deeply mistrusts. Inosuke rejects Douma’s claim to fatherhood and repeatedly attempts to attack him. 190 248
  • Tanjiro Kamado — Teammate and frequent mediator. They first cooperate to decapitate a Half-Demon, while Tanjiro repeatedly restrains Inosuke from reckless fights. 151 195
  • Zenitsu Agatsuma — Rival and teammate. Their constant insults and competitions coexist with combat cooperation against demons such as Rui, Gyutaro, and Daki. 169 175 239
  • Tengen Uzui — A superior and ally whom Inosuke immediately wants to challenge after learning that he is strong. They later fight together against Rui and Daki. 165 169 175
  • Tsukihana / Muzan Kibutsuji — A deceptive associate who manipulates and taunts him. Inosuke eventually learns that Tsukihana is connected to Tsukihiko and joins Zenitsu in attacking him. 141 246
