Background / History

Yoriichi lived an ordinary life with his younger brother, Muichiro, before Kokushibo and Muzan began repeatedly approaching them as prospective disciples. Suspicious of the two strangers and concerned for Muichiro's safety, he rejected Kokushibo's offer and dismissed the pair as outdated samurai. 122

When Ubuyashiki Amane invited the Tokito brothers to join the Demon Slayer Corps, Yoriichi refused, believing that the organization would place them in unnecessary danger. He continued to oppose Muichiro's enthusiasm for demon slaying out of concern for his brother and their family. 133 135

Despite his initial resistance, Yoriichi and Muichiro trained under Kokushibo and Yoriichi's elder, learning Wind Breathing and developing Mist Breathing. After Kokushibo eliminated a nearby Half-Demon, Muzan brought the brothers to the Demon Slayer Corps, with Yoriichi still reluctant to join. 134 135

During the battle against Kokushibo, Yoriichi fought beside Muichiro, Gyomei Himejima, and Tengen Uzui. Kokushibo acknowledged the Tokito brothers as his descendants, easily overpowering them while attempting to persuade them to become demons. 239 240

Personality

Yoriichi is practical, cautious, and unusually mature for his age. He distrusts unfamiliar adults, immediately considering whether Kokushibo and Muzan could be human traffickers rather than accepting their claims of mentorship. 122

His caution chiefly comes from a protective instinct toward Muichiro. He repeatedly rejects the Demon Slayer Corps because he sees its work as dangerous, contrasting with Muichiro's curiosity and eagerness to become a Demon Slayer. 133 135
