• Spirit Masters require their first ring at the Rank 10 bottleneck and another at each subsequent ten-rank bottleneck to continue advancing 244.
• Power accumulated before obtaining a ring can contribute to further advancement afterward. Ah Yin reaches Level 30 before forming her Third Ring, then rises to Level 33 when it takes shape 48.
• Rings fuse with the Martial Soul and grant Spirit Skills whose information can become instinctive knowledge upon absorption 4 56.
• A ring’s recorded age reflects its cultivation power, but some exceptional rings can grow or undergo external enhancement 22 33 91.

Spirit Skills

• Attribute enhancement: Moisten All Directions strengthens Jiang Zhen’s attributes and water control. Azure Glow Source increases all attributes by 100%, improves Soul Power recovery by 50%, and reduces Spirit Skill costs by 30% 4 16.
• Specialized techniques: Rings can grant weapons, reflection defenses, healing, imprisonment, energy absorption, and elemental domains 56 68 78 92.
• Multiple skills: Jiang Zhen’s Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth Rings each provide two skills; his Million-Year Ninth Ring provides four 56 68 92 96.
• Seventh-ring function: The seventh ring concerns the Martial Soul Avatar, elevating the Martial Soul’s Origin rather than merely adding another attack. Ordinary Avatars generally provide 100–200% amplification; Jiang Zhen’s Sky Dream Ice Silkworm ring provides 800% 69 96.

Relationship to Martial Soul Development

• Established ring configurations can produce predictable skill sets. Unmutated Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Martial Souls generally obtain similar skills from their first through ninth rings 101.
• Jiang Zhen considers dependence on rings too narrow a path: self-created skills can be stronger and better suited to their users than ring-granted techniques 99.
• Rings are not interchangeable with Spirit Bones. After absorbing his Fifth Ring, Jiang Zhen separately absorbs the Evil Orca King’s left leg bone and receives additional skills and levels 56.

Appearance

• Newly released rings can float above a Soul Beast’s corpse and rotate in the air 4.
• Absorbed rings can rise from beneath their owner’s feet and light up when their corresponding skills activate 16 78.
• Exceptional configurations exert substantial pressure. Jiang Zhen’s eight-ring display is described as sufficient to suffocate even a Titled Douluo 78.

Acquisition and Absorption

Traditional Soul Beast Hunting

• Before Jiang Zhen’s reform, slain Soul Beasts normally release Spirit Rings from their corpses 4 244.
• Hunters can incapacitate a suitable beast for the intended recipient to deliver the finishing blow, as Jiang Zhen does for Xue Wu, Yu Hairou, and Shui Bing’er 132 135.
• Jiang Zhen guides his first ring with a Soul Power Traction Line, draws it above his head, and channels its energy into his Martial Soul 4.
• Absorption requires sustained control over violent incoming energy. Jiang Zhen restores his depleted Soul Power and chooses a concealed cave before attempting his first absorption 4.

Physical and Spiritual Requirements

• Constitution limits absorption: An ordinary, untempered beginner can withstand a first ring of roughly four to five hundred years. Jiang Zhen’s years of body tempering raise his estimated tolerance to rings under 1,800 years 3.
• Spiritual Power also matters: Ten-Thousand-Year rings produce mental shock. Jiang Zhen strengthens his sea of consciousness with Soul Nurturing Pills because inadequate preparation could cause severe mental damage 19.
• Common age limits are not absolute: Jiang Zhen teaches that absorption depends on the recipient’s foundations rather than fixed age ceilings 132.
• Both systems may be strained at once: Absorbing the Sea Princess’s power requires Jiang Zhen to stabilize his meridians and sea of consciousness simultaneously 78.

Sacrifice

• A Soul Beast can sacrifice its cultivation to form a ring and accompanying Spirit Bones, as demonstrated by the Demon Empress, Sea Princess, and Deep Sea Demonic Whale King 67 78 91.
• Under the normal rules of sacrifice, the beast’s departing soul is drawn toward the forming ring 67 91.
• Jiang Zhen redirects these souls into Pure Water Phantom Spirits, preserving their consciousness outside the rings 67 78 91.
• These preserved spirits are distinct from the later universal Soul Spirit Contract system. The Sea Princess’s phantom still requires Jiang Zhen’s Soul Power for long-term maintenance 78 244.

Self-Condensation and Origin Rings

• Ah Yin can condense her own rings through the Titled Douluo stage, and her rings can strengthen as her Soul Power grows 22.
• Jiang Zhen identifies this as exceptional: his remembered account of transformed Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beasts permits self-condensation only for their first six rings 22.
• Ah Yin forms rings by gathering her Soul Power and using her Blue Silver Emperor Bloodline as a guide 23 48.

Reform of the Spirit Ring System

Jiang Zhen’s reform ends the world rule that rewards killing Soul Beasts with Spirit Rings. He replaces the traditional hunting route with two methods available at cultivation bottlenecks: Blood Essence Soul Rings and Soul Spirit Contracts 244.

The change takes effect across Douluo Star. A hunting party kills a fifteen-thousand-year Ironclad Dragon Rhinoceros but receives no ring, despite waiting and inspecting its corpse. Bibi Dong and Xu Wen announce the new rules as news spreads across both continents 245.

Blood Essence Soul Rings

• Spirit Masters attempt self-condensation using accumulated Soul Power, understanding of their Martial Soul, and abundant blood essence supported by a strong physique 244.
• The process demands exceptional talent, disposition, perseverance, and preparation 244.
• A successful ring is an Origin ring closely suited to its creator’s Martial Soul, with growth potential exceeding externally acquired rings 244.
• The ring evolves alongside its owner’s cultivation, allowing an entirely self-reliant cultivation path 244.

Soul Spirit Contracts

• A Spirit Master and a compatible Soul Beast establish an equal, symbiotic contract through a specific ritual 244.
• The beast does not die. Most of its soul and consciousness merges with the Spirit Master, forming a ring and granting corresponding skills 244.
• The Soul Spirit retains independent consciousness, can manifest a battle phantom, and may communicate mentally with its partner under suitable conditions 244.
• Nourishment from the Spirit Master’s cultivation allows the Soul Spirit to grow 244.
• Consent is enforced by the world’s rules. Coercion, deception, or threats cause failure and can provoke backlash ranging from soul injury to destruction of cultivation 244.
