In fact, after Dream Lyra was completed, some people had raised that very suggestion. They believed the safest place for Human Civilization now was actually Dream Lyra, and the fastest thing they had was naturally Dream Lyra as well. So rather than building those so-called fleets to protect the Residential Spaceships, they might as well move all of humanity onto Dream Lyra.
It had to be said, there was some sense in what these people said.
But they had overlooked Dream Lyra's function as a combat flagship. Never mind that Dream Lyra could not carry all of humanity; even if it could, they still could not put everyone inside. Because humanity was not just individual humans. It also required all kinds of supporting living facilities, and all kinds of equipment needed for survival.
In that case, not only would Dream Lyra's overall mass increase, the space for its weapons, defenses, and all manner of other military facilities would also be reduced, weakening Dream Lyra's combat power.
Back then, humanity had actually considered it, but for various reasons, they had ultimately given up on the idea.
However, if humanity truly had the ability to build several Dream Lyras, then they could do it that way. Unfortunately, maintaining just one Dream Lyra already required almost the strength of the entire civilization.
Still, the current state of Human Civilization could be considered one egg placed in two baskets. One was Dream Lyra, and the other was the dozen or so Residential Spaceships whose appearance was virtually identical to warships.
There were now roughly one billion people aboard Dream Lyra, and basically all the genius scientists were here, along with all of Human Civilization's scientific data. That meant that even if the Residential Spaceships were truly wiped out, humanity would not go extinct. The
