Arc 5Newcomer Cup and Scyther’s Evolution

Eichi won the Newcomer Cup with Beedrill and began preparing for the Inter-Academy Exchange Match while seeking guidance from Silver Academy’s Bug-type experts. Teacher Jiang Ben judged Scyther ready to evolve and gave Eichi special potions to use with its Metal Coat.

  • Eichi’s Scyther defeated Ason’s Corviknight, but Quilava’s Exeggutor later used Explosion to knock out Scyther and eliminate Eichi from that match.
  • Eichi’s Beedrill defeated Xin Tai’s Houndoom and Ursaring, winning their match despite Xin Tai’s underhanded tactics.
  • Eichi defeated Sato in the Newcomer Cup final after Scyther and Electabuzz drew and Beedrill beat Charizard with Poison Jab.

Arc 6Scizor and the Exchange Match

Eichi evolved Scyther into Scizor, rescued Heracross, and trained both alongside Beedrill while learning to make Pokéblocks. He helped Tetsu catch a Snorunt at the ranch, sold him a piece of Unmelting Ice, and continued preparing his Pokémon for the coming exchange match.

  • Eichi evolved Scyther into Scizor, then rescued an injured Heracross from Crobat, Houndoom, Golem, Donphan, and Persian.
  • Heracross told Eichi that its Older Brother had entrusted Scizor and its Pokémon Egg to him after Scizor’s parents were killed by humans in black uniforms.

Arc 7Training at Muramasa’s Hall

Eichi earned leave from Silver Academy and traveled to Muramasa’s Training Hall to improve Scizor through demanding perception and waterfall training. Scizor reached Elite level and began learning Cross Chop as the selection match for the inter-academy exchange competition unfolded back at the academy.

  • Eichi passed Director Liu’s theory test and defeated his Cacnea with Heracross, earning permission to study with Muramasa.
  • Eichi set off for Muramasa’s Training Hall, stopped a rampaging Tyranitar and Ursaring in Blackthorn City, and met A Zheng on the way there.
  • Muramasa agreed to teach Eichi for a month and began training Scizor through blindfolded combat and sensory exercises.
  • Scizor learned to sense nearby Pokémon, while Eichi’s Beedrill and Heracross also practiced sensing and blindfolded combat.
  • Muramasa’s trainees heard that Eichi’s Pokémon had stopped the rampaging Tyranitar and Ursaring, and Eichi’s Pokémon began practicing their strength against the waterfall.

Arc 8Scizor’s Final Trial

Eichi completed Scizor’s demanding training in Muramasa’s forest and returned to Silver Academy, where Scizor defeated two challengers. As Eichi traveled to Goldenrod City for the Basic Breeder assessment, he rescued Ak from thieves and faced questions from Officer Jenny about how he had handled them.

  • Eichi trained Scizor in Cross Chop and accompanied Muramasa into the Scyther and Scizor clan’s forest for its final training trial.
  • Scizor repeatedly failed to reach the three giant trees within the time limit, but improved through Eichi’s coaching and its confrontations with Vegetable Bundle and the other clan Pokémon.
  • Scizor passed the trial by reaching the finish line in 9 minutes and 28 seconds, then said goodbye to the clan as Eichi prepared to leave.
  • Eichi returned to Silver Academy, delivered Muramasa’s letter to Director Liu, and defeated Ishida’s Scizor and Matsumoto’s Magmar in battles before his classmates.
  • Eichi prepared for the Basic Breeder assessment and traveled with Professor Kanter and the other students to Goldenrod City.
