Hawk's face was cold and stern as he recalled what had happened that night, September 10, 2009. Fierce flames of vengeance burned in his azure eyes.
Gwen looked at the anger burning in Hawk's eyes in silence.
She did not seem surprised by it.
In fact, she had already known. That night, when she had asked her father George for a small favor, she had found it on the list of victims from Hulk's battle with Abomination.
After all, that photograph had been taken shortly after Hawk had enrolled.
But Hawk had never mentioned the girl in the photo, so Gwen had guessed then that the girl might have met with misfortune.
And Anya in the photo did indeed bear some resemblance to Hawk.
So...
She was smart, and her father was a police chief, so obtaining the records had been easy.
However!
"Abomination is already dead, Hawk."
Hawk said nothing.
He thought of the Abomination from the movies, who had remained alive and well, even getting taken out of prison by some old king from the snowy mountains to fight in an arena.
He had not watched the later plot, but barring any surprises, Abomination would be redeemed.
If not for what had happened to him, Hawk could not have cared less whether Abomination was redeemed or became even more evil.
But after experiencing that night, whenever Hawk thought about it, he felt only one thing.
Disgusting!

At that thought, the flames in Hawk's heart roiled, but he quickly calmed himself. He rubbed his face, then looked at Gwen again and smiled slightly. "By the way, Gwen, did you need something from me?"
The flames that had just flared up in his eyes vanished completely, as though everything moments ago had been an illusion.
