Within the Ninth Legion Command Department of Lycaea War City, Velin looked over the Merit Points tally document sent by the Allied Forces Command Department. When he opened the first page and saw the number on it, his eyes widened.
It was not too little, but too much.
"Eighty-seven thousand, two hundred and ninety-three points. Let me see the detailed breakdown."
Muttering to himself, Velin turned to the second page and began reading.
"Serving as marshal of the Ninth Legion for a total of 2,078 days, calculated at 3 Merit Points per day, for a total of 6,234 Merit Points."
"Commanding the recapture of Lede Province in the Kingdom of Belfas: 2,135 Merit Points."
"Commanding..."
As he read further down, Velin silently added everything up in his head.
"Battle of Daro: annihilating a detached undead legion force, 6,873 Merit Points."
"God-Thief extermination battle: slaying the God-Thief, 60,000 Merit Points."
After reading the final entry, Velin placed the document on the desk, stroked his chin, and muttered, "I wonder how many Merit Points Kyle has."
With that thought, Velin rose directly from his study, took several guards with him, and headed for the Twenty-fifth Legion's encampment.
The merit tally documents were distributed directly by each legion's Inquisitor Knights to Gold-grade Professionals. They did not pass through their immediate superiors, which was considered a confidentiality measure.
Of course, if he went to Leonas, he could easily obtain the complete merit records.
But the unknown was what made it interesting.
"I'll visit Kyle first, then go see Xuemiyya."
Though Velin admitted that he had a tiny urge to show off, he was more interested in learning how many merits his most loyal subordinate and beloved wife had earned.
Among the Allied Forces, only those few commanders-in-chief should have more than me.
On his
