Mag saw Velin's puzzled expression and explained, "The master instructed me that if you had not broken through to Gold Knight, I was only to give you one letter. If you had broken through to Gold Knight, I was to give you both letters along with this battle skill."
"Kyle, take Uncle Mag downstairs to rest."
"Thank you, Young Master Velin, but I still need to return and report, so I won't disturb you any longer." Mag politely declined, bid Velin farewell, and set off on his return journey.
"Send these things to Lord O'dor." After the other man left, Velin put away the letters and battle skill, then gave Kyle his orders.
"Yes."
Back in his study, Velin closed the door, sat down in his chair, and laid the three letters before him.
"Which one should I read first?"
Velin rubbed his hands together, hesitated for a moment, then finally opened the first letter from his father.
Just as expected, every line was filled with reprimands, telling him to work twice as hard, prioritize cultivation, increase his strength, and neither be lazy nor slack off.
"Heh, just as expected. This old... Well, you clearly miscalculated."
Though he felt somewhat uncomfortable, Velin knew his father meant well. He took a deep breath, calmed the turmoil in his heart, folded the letter, set it aside, and opened the second one.
Compared to the first letter, the tone of the second was much gentler. It warned him not to grow arrogant, then introduced the battle skill called Restore as Before, instructing him to focus on cultivating it and explaining several cultivation methods.
