More than thirty dwarf soldiers paid with their lives to reclaim their lord's head.
After eight hours of fighting, Moncas's army captured the outermost perimeter of Iron Tower City.
Standing atop the stone wall, Moncas watched the scene before him without changing expression. Blood had stained the gray-white walls red, dwarf and human corpses lay tangled together, and broken swords and blades littered the ground.
Olcott drew his Knight Sword and used it to lift several dwarf soldiers' helmets, only to find that every one of them concealed a head of white hair.
"Viscount Moncas, eight out of ten dwarf corpses here are elderly. There are very few young and able-bodied dwarves. It seems they intend to hold out to the bitter end." Olcott wiped the blood from his Knight Sword and sheathed it.
"I had wanted to seize Iron Tower City in one push. Since these dwarves want to resist stubbornly, we'll proceed according to the original plan." Moncas could do nothing but follow the plan they had discussed earlier.
Olcott nodded at this. "Your troops suffered heavy casualties in today's assault. Let my soldiers handle the cleanup."
"Then I'll trouble you." Viscount Moncas turned and thanked him.
"It's my duty," Olcott replied.
Afterward, Olcott's troops began collecting the bodies of their fallen comrades. As for the dwarf corpses, all of them were discarded near water sources.
At the same time, the soldiers brought up the Magic Energy Cannons and violently destroyed key points throughout Iron Tower City with energy shells.
"My lord, wood has been piled throughout the city, and all our personnel have withdrawn." A Low-level Silver Knight came before Olcott, struck his chest in salute, and reported loudly.
