Copper Mountain City was the domain of Marquis of Copper Mountain, a royal scion from a branch of the royal family, much like Marquis Dalag.
The system of governance practiced by the Ironforge Mountain Dwarf Kingdom differed from both the Ilia Kingdom and the Bashio Kingdom. The royal family directly governed only Hill Province, while important mineral sites and strategic locations within the kingdom were entrusted to royal scions.
Important provinces were governed by outstanding members of the royal family, who ruled the entire kingdom through this arrangement.
The Ironforge Code, the national code of the Ironforge Mountain Dwarf Kingdom, stipulated in its very first article that the king could unconditionally command the armies under any noble. This was not only supported by the Dwarven Mountain God Church, but also approved by the god himself.
Like its name, this city had been built atop copper mines. Its interior was a tangled maze, and even the Dwarves themselves did not know how deep Copper Mountain City extended underground or how many dark, damp subterranean creatures lurked below.
The orders given to the 135th Legion consisted of two parts.
First, maintain the stability of Copper Mountain City and eliminate the Dwarf Resistance Army.
Second, eliminate the Cave Dwarves that suddenly emerged from underground and ensure the safety of the transport supply routes.
Like the mission in Cave Hills, this was a logistical assignment. The only difference was that the targets to be eliminated had changed from Dwarves to both Dwarves and subterranean creatures—there was simply one more type of enemy to kill.
Three days later, after Velin handed over the defenses of Black Forest Fortress to the 147th Legion, which had come from afar, he led his army east toward Copper Mountain City.
This time, Velin did not request reinforcements from above.
