Over the next while, Velin began discussing important matters with Ruili, but whenever it came to making commitments on crucial issues, she either kept her mouth shut or changed the subject.
He still could not determine Ruili's true identity, nor could he be sure whether the things she had told him earlier were lies. Any deeper transaction would have to wait a while longer.
Three hours later, after seeing her out of the Messier Demiplane, Velin and Kyle sat on the ground, looking at each other.
"Who do you think is behind Ruili's mask?" Velin leaned back and lay on the grass, gazing up at the night sky as he asked.
After hearing this, Kyle pondered for a moment before answering uncertainly, "I think she might be Third Princess Ailebella."
"The darkest place is under the lamp."
"Yes, my lord." Kyle nodded. "The less likely something seems, the more likely it may be. There have been too many examples of that."
"I don't think so." Velin closed his eyes, feeling the dense magical aura in the air. "I'm more inclined to believe that the person beneath the mask is either Fourth Princess Lydia or Fifth Princess Eleanor."
"There were many misleading clues in her words. For example, when she said she was thirty years old, her voice dropped slightly and her gaze drifted. Those are signs of lying."
"But that alone isn't enough to determine her true identity."
At this point, Velin opened his eyes, sat up, and looked at Kyle with a smile. "How about we make a bet?"
Kyle considered it briefly, then nodded. "Sure."
"If I win, you give me a year of freedom. If you win, I promise not to slack off." As though he had made up his mind, Velin made his offer to Kyle.
