Yu Xiaogang spent his life developing the “Ten Core Competencies of Martial Soul” and was widely regarded as a foremost authority on Spirit Theory. His own Martial Soul, the malignantly mutated beast-type Luo Sanpao, could never break through level 30—a limitation that directly contradicted his belief that there were no useless Martial Souls, only useless Soul Masters 4 7.

After hearing that Lin Xi had awakened with a Hundred Thousand Year Soul Ring, he traveled overnight to Nuoding Academy to investigate. The phenomenon conflicted with his conviction that Soul Rings had to be acquired by hunting Soul Beasts, making him fear that his lifelong research was fundamentally wrong 4 5.
