Dai Mubai serves as Shrek Academy's initial admissions tester. At level 37, he requires applicants who meet the basic entry standard to endure one of his attacks for the duration of an incense stick. His confidence collapses when Lin Xi suppresses him with mental pressure and forces him to kneel publicly; he is unable to rise until she permits it 34 35 36.

As a prince of the Star Luo Empire, Dai Mubai is bound to a succession conflict with his brother, Dai Weisi. In the gladiatorial arena of the Star Luo Imperial Palace, Dai Weisi defeats him while Zhu Zhuqing is executed before him, leaving Dai Mubai consumed by regret over his earlier cowardice and lack of strength 41.
