"After an emergency investigation, we confirmed that the nuclear missile did not explode anywhere on Earth."
The monitor lit up, rapidly displaying a mass of data.
"I surmise it didn't explode in outer space either. You'll need to confirm that with your father after you return." Nick Fury looked at Thor, who nodded.
"But what's even more terrifying is that this wasn't the Black Count's ability!"
The inexplicable sense of crisis had, for once, kept the Avengers boys from sniping at one another. Nick Fury seized the chance to fan the flames, though his more important goal was still to resolve this matter.
"According to the analysis, the portal Ancient One opened led to the Himalayas. To avoid provoking them, we haven't sent anyone to search the area for now."
"Which only further proves that she is one of Earth's people."
"The Sorcerer Supreme, protector of Earth's dimension." Thor suddenly spoke.
When everyone looked at him, he shrugged. "Don't look at me like that. I always thought it was just a legend. This is Midgard, the weakest place in the Nine Realms, the homeland of humanity."
"Then tell us what you know." Nick Fury took a deep breath.
"No problem."
Thor explained, "It was a story I heard when I was a child. My father once mentioned the existence of someone called the Sorcerer Supreme, and he seemed rather pleased about it."
"So I asked him who she was. He told me that an incredible genius had appeared in Midgard. With her protecting Earth from invasions by various dimensions, he would have more time to drink."
"Mm, and?"
"Uh, that's it."
"What?"
"That's all!" Thor looked at them strangely.
"I only took it as a bedtime story back then. Today is the first time I've learned that she really exists."
