Background / History

Lowett was formerly known as the “Triangle Spellbreaker,” a necromancer regarded as the “Number One Under the Ten Saints.” After being nearly destroyed in time-space turbulence, his damaged soul was drawn into a body with exceptional Soul Compatibility. His former magical knowledge remained, but his mana and casting capacity were reduced to a level beneath a proper Mage Apprentice. 2

After arriving in the pirate world, he adopted the name Francis Lowett and treated “Triangle Spellbreaker” as an identity that had died in the past. He briefly became a Navy Second Lieutenant while concealing his necromantic activities and building an undead force from stolen corpses. 6 7

Lowett created his first Black Knight from Kuro’s corpse, then later created a second from Arlong and other Fishmen. These constructs became the foundation of his personal military force and allowed him to operate more openly as the Black Count. 19 46

His long-term plan centered on the Soul Net: a parasitic network created through Blood Curse Weapons, Black Knights, Leviathan, Wallace, and connected subordinates. The network anchors his soul beyond any single body, supplies energy and information, and eventually becomes central to both his survival and advancement. 119 125 142

Following his rise in the New World, Lowett established Dawn City as an Undead Kingdom, pursued ancient weapons, resurrected specialists such as Vegapunk, and entered closed-door cultivation to study rule-distorting magic. 453 458

Personality

Lowett is calculating, proud, and intensely driven by the pursuit of magical knowledge and power. Even while severely weakened, he refuses to accept death, viewing a necromancer who dies before uncovering the ultimate mysteries as a disgrace. 2

He approaches people, bodies, souls, and political organizations as resources to be studied or used. His cruelty is deliberate rather than impulsive: he massacres pirate crews for souls, converts followers into Soul Net nodes, and is willing to drain millions of lives to advance. 98 119 329

Despite this ruthlessness, Lowett respects conviction and competence. He acknowledges the value of people who uphold their beliefs through action, trains his Black Knights rather than discarding them for failure, and shows unexpected empathy toward Tony Stark’s insecurity. 177 195 651
