Background / History
Star Luo upbringing and flight
Dai Mubai was raised as a member of the Star Luo Imperial Family and received the same elite cultivation resources as his brother and throne rival, Dai Weisi. His royal foundation included body-strengthening resources such as Whale Rubber, giving him a substantial physical advantage over peers. He later fled Star Luo during an earlier imperial selection, earning the enduring stigma of the “Runaway Prince.” 175 206
After arriving at Shrek Academy, Dai Mubai remained one of its strongest students. His top-tier Evil Eye White Tiger Martial Soul, developed physique, and higher Soul Power let him defeat Tang San repeatedly in ordinary sparring for roughly three years. 175
Conflict with Tang San
Dai Mubai repeatedly attempted to pursue Xiao Wu under the pretext of sparring, despite her clear disinterest. Tang San’s possessiveness toward Xiao Wu turned this into a personal rivalry, culminating in an unrestricted fight in which Tang San used hidden weapons, Parasite, and the Godly Zhuge Crossbow to overwhelm Dai Mubai until Zhao Wuji intervened. 185
Tang San subsequently poisoned Dai Mubai through his twin lovers, intending to chemically castrate him. Dai Mubai sought justice from Flender, but Flender and Yu Xiaogang ultimately protected Tang San and sought to shift blame elsewhere. The poisoning left Dai Mubai infertile, physically weakened, and increasingly consumed by resentment. 187 188 189
Recall to Star Luo
Ettore Davis, Dai Mubai’s granduncle, arrived at Shrek after Dai Weisi was assassinated. He offered Dai Mubai a renewed chance at the throne, and Dai Mubai immediately agreed to return to Star Luo despite realizing that his condition could jeopardize his eligibility as emperor. 199 200
In the imperial selection, Dai Mubai demonstrated his talent by easily defeating another Soul Elder and advancing to Soul Ancestor at fifteen. He initially refused to join the other candidates’ plot against Monaldo, recognizing that they wanted to use the imperial family’s power while leaving him exposed. 207 208
Imperial selection and downfall
After receiving guidance from the Star Luo Emperor, Dai Mubai committed himself to eliminating Monaldo. He assembled Royal Guards and relied on Ettore during an attempted assassination, but Monaldo’s strength exceeded his expectations. Dai Mubai avoided openly directing the attack, fearing evidence could be used against him. 209
As the selection continued, Dai Mubai became increasingly desperate. He challenged Monaldo to a public confrontation, intending to use force to secure victory, but rumors of his infertility spread through the imperial capital. Footage of Dai Mubai pleading with Flender and exposing his condition was broadcast publicly, disqualifying him from the selection before he could claim the throne. 217 219
Appearance
Dai Mubai was initially a tall, blond, roguishly handsome youth with a strong build. After Tang San’s poison took effect, his appearance deteriorated sharply; over time, he became haggard and increasingly androgynous. 175 196 217
- Blond hair and a tall, athletic physique. 175
- During Martial Soul Possession, his body expands while retaining agility, and white fur covers his body. 185
- After his condition worsened, he developed a hunched posture, unkempt beard, sunken eyes, and dark eye sockets. 196
- Later relied on heavy makeup to conceal his increasingly feminine features and altered voice. 217
Personality
Dai Mubai is proud, status-conscious, and accustomed to deference. He is willing to be friendly toward those who flatter him and recognize him as “Boss Dai,” but reacts with hostility when weaker people reject or challenge him. 185
He is lustful and treats romantic pursuit as a means of entertainment and conquest, as shown by his pursuit of Xiao Wu and his history of changing partners frequently. However, he values strength above beauty and never wholly neglects cultivation, even after leaving Star Luo’s resources behind. 175 185
His conflict with Tang San exposed his vindictive and prideful side. The poisoning, Flender’s failure to defend him, and Zhu Zhuqing’s rejection left him bitter and unstable. During the imperial selection, he showed some increased political caution by refusing to be used by rival candidates, but his ambition for the throne eventually drove him toward assassination schemes and a desperate public challenge against Monaldo. 188 196 208 209 217
Abilities & Skills
Evil Eye White Tiger Martial Soul
Dai Mubai possesses the Evil Eye White Tiger, a top-tier beast Martial Soul associated with the Star Luo royal family. Its natural physical advantages made him significantly stronger than Tang San during their early years at Shrek. 175 185
- Enhances his physique, power, and close-range combat ability during Martial Soul Possession. 185
- Causes his body to grow larger while preserving mobility. 185
- His cultivation and Martial Soul quality allowed him to easily defeat a powerful Soul Elder after becoming a Soul Ancestor. 207
White Tiger Barrier
Dai Mubai’s first Soul Skill is a defensive enhancement used after Tang San’s hidden weapons pierced his fur. 185
- Raises his defenses against subsequent attacks. 185
- Required continuous Soul Power expenditure during his fight with Tang San. 185
White Tiger Vajra Transformation
Dai Mubai’s third Soul Skill is his strongest known transformation ability. 185
- Further enlarges and strengthens his body. 185
- Allowed him to break free from Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass Entanglement in less than half a second. 185
- Combined with White Tiger Barrier, gave him defensive power comparable to a defense-type Soul Ancestor using a defensive Soul Skill. 185
Combat Ability
Before his physical decline, Dai Mubai was one of Shrek’s foremost combat students and maintained a decisive advantage over Tang San in regular, weaponless sparring. 175 196
- Reached Soul Ancestor at age fifteen and level 41 shortly afterward. 207
- Easily defeated a Soul Elder whose White Tiger Martial Soul was near the top tier. 207
- His strength later declined due to the poison’s effects, exhaustion, and Tang San’s continued retaliation. 196
Relationships
- Tang San — Rival and eventual enemy. Dai Mubai resented Tang San’s interference with Xiao Wu and was later poisoned and rendered infertile by him. 175 185 187
- Xiao Wu — Dai Mubai attempted to pursue her through repeated sparring invitations; she rejected him and regarded him with annoyance. 185
- Flender — His Shrek dean. Flender initially protected Dai Mubai from Ettore but ultimately failed to support him against Tang San because of his loyalty to Yu Xiaogang. 188 199
- Zhu Zhuqing — His fiancée. Their engagement became functionally meaningless after Dai Mubai fled Star Luo and Zhu Zhuqing accepted the Beast Soul Alliance’s protection and plans. 189 190
- Ettore Davis — Dai Mubai’s granduncle and a Soul Sage who recalled him to Star Luo, helped him obtain his fourth Soul Ring, and supported his imperial campaign. 199 207 209
- Star Luo Emperor — His father and principal political backer during the selection. The Emperor encouraged Dai Mubai to act independently and supplied him with Royal Guards. 208 209
- Amona / Monaldo — His principal rival in the imperial selection. Amona’s five-ring Soul King cultivation crushed Dai Mubai’s prospects and became the focus of his assassination attempts. 207 209
