Background / History
Life on Sea God Island
Bo Saixi was born on Sea God Island and raised from childhood as its most promising prospective representative of the Sea God. Her position brought immense power, but also bound her life's honors and responsibilities to the deity. She served him diligently for a century 274.
In her youth, she hoped to inherit the Sea God Position herself. Becoming High Priestess instead left her disappointed for a long time, making the Sea God's eagerness to give his position to Ye Tian particularly bitter for her 133.
She met Tang Chen and Qian Daoliu roughly a hundred years before her mainland reunion with Ye Tian. She remembers that period as the closest she came to love, but later explicitly states that she never loved Qian Daoliu. Her agreement with him was intended to avoid damaging his resolve, not to express romantic interest 275.
Forcing the Inheritance on Ye Tian
After noticing Ye Tian drawing on the power of heaven and earth, the Sea God entrusted Bo Saixi with an Inheritance Mark for him. She was astonished because she believed Tang San had already been designated as his successor; the Sea God replied that more than one person could receive a mark 42.
When Ye Tian was brought to Sea God Hall, Bo Saixi upheld his selection despite the Seven Holy Pillars' disbelief that someone without apparent Soul Power could inherit a divine position. Ye Tian repeatedly refused, even after she explained that the trials could permanently improve his cultivation without requiring him to complete the inheritance 132 133.
The Sea God ordered her to secure Ye Tian as his heir regardless of the method. Bo Saixi gave Ye Tian a protective Jiao Pearl, then forcibly placed the Inheritance Mark in his forehead. She subsequently apologized but could not remove it 133 134.
She assigned Sea Witch to accompany him, protect him, and safeguard the mark. Ye Tian regarded this arrangement as surveillance and left the island determined to remove the inheritance 135.
Breaking with the Sea God
Ye Tian eventually removed the mark and transferred it to Bibi Dong. He also used Bo Saixi's Jiao Pearl and a fabricated romantic message to lure Qian Daoliu away from Spirit City, creating an opening for the attack on the Hall of Elders 227 229.
Following Ye Tian's rejection of the inheritance, the Sea God gave Bo Saixi an ultimatum: bring him back personally or surrender her representative status and everything bestowed with it. Inspired by Ye Tian's willingness to reject godhood, she chose to leave the Sea God's service rather than use force again 274.
She arrived at Ye Tian's residence in Heaven Dou City with diminished power and only a year left to live. Her immediate wish was to see Sea Witch and say goodbye, then reconnect with Tang Chen and Qian Daoliu. Although she spoke of finding freedom, Ye Tian noticed resentment beneath her composure at being threatened after a century of service 274.
Ye Tian gave her a bottle of Source of Life, extending her lifespan and restoring her physical vitality. She accepted it gratefully and promised to help him whenever needed. She also learned of his deception of Qian Daoliu and laughed at the persistence of her old admirer's feelings 275.
Mainland Alliance and Later Life
Bo Saixi began accompanying Ye Tian on the mainland. She rescued him from Tuna Douluo Toma's assassination attempt, then joined his investigation of Evil Soul Master activity in Sunset Forest 283 287 288.
At Blood Valley, she attacked the divine altar and fought the possessed Tang Chen while Ye Tian infiltrated the structure. Rather than risk a mutually destructive battle that would leave Ye Tian vulnerable, she chose to withdraw. Ye Tian's explosives subsequently destroyed the valley, and she helped recover the ancient demon core from Tang Chen's remains 289 290 291 292.
She continued assisting Ye Tian during the war effort, returning with military supplies and proposing Storage Soul Tools as a solution when heavy rain blocked northern roads. By the finale, she had begun traveling the continent with Sea Witch and Xiao Bai, heading toward the Far North and planning to document their journey 316 331.
Appearance
Bo Saixi retains a youthful appearance despite her century-long history; Ye Tian compares her to a woman in her twenties 188.
- Priestess regalia: A phoenix-winged golden crown and purple crystal scepter 42.
- Hair: White in her early appearance; restored to pale gold after drinking Source of Life 42 275.
- After leaving Sea God Island: Wears ordinary clothing and initially carries no staff, resembling a girl next door rather than the imposing High Priestess 274.
- Mainland outfits: Appears in a gown during the assassination attempt and later in a black, form-fitting outfit 283 287.
Personality
As High Priestess, Bo Saixi is composed, authoritative, and deeply obedient to the Sea God. She accepts his choice of Ye Tian despite her own surprise and the Holy Pillars' objections. That devotion initially overrides Ye Tian's refusal: she imposes the mark and insists that her actions are for his benefit 132 134 135.
Her departure from divine service marks a major change. She accepts the loss of borrowed power without wishing to reclaim her former position, reasoning that Level 82 cultivation is sufficient for a new life without ambitions like Bibi Dong's. She becomes more openly nostalgic, playful, and interested in ordinary pleasures, including city travel and Ye Tian's cooking 280 294.
Bo Saixi remains protective and tactically cautious. She warns Ye Tian before attacking Blood Valley and refuses to pursue Tang Chen at the cost of leaving her companion defenseless. She also reacts sharply to reminders of her age, pointedly asking Ye Tian to compliment her outfit after Qian Renxue calls her old 287 289 291.
