Narisun passed through the doorway when the Hypnotist's spiritual intuition suddenly stirred.
He looked around. The sense of geometric space cultivated through his long study of the Euclidean Sigil allowed him to keenly detect the anomaly.
"Mosax, the room's outer contours don't match its interior space."
Mosax immediately brought up the tactical interface and pulled up data for comparison.
"The xenos possess Psionic Energy?"
Narisun considered it. "Possible."
Following his spiritual intuition toward the light, he arrived before a wart-like blister and stared at the xenos's dried-up body.
"Here."
Mosax approached with his sword in hand and stared at the corpse within. Its long, slender limbs were tightly wrapped around its thin body.
Apart from a small mouth, its narrow head had no discernible facial features.
Its arms and legs were slender and elongated, with two more joints than human limbs.
Most peculiar of all, it had no muscle fibers—only crystal-wrapped bones nourished by dull blood.
Mosax frowned deeply. "They were already dead before we arrived?"
Narisun suddenly sensed something and spun around.
The Hypnotist's eyes glowed faint gold, and the unidentifiable things gradually became clear.
Layers upon layers of indescribable shadows intertwined and writhed in the air.
Bolt shells roared as a dense barrage soared upward.
The xenos twisted and bent, predicting the shells' trajectories and causing the ammunition to skid past them.
Curved claws trailed congealed hydrogen mist as they slashed down.
Plasteel shattered.
The claws pierced the heads of four Night Lords.
Mosax leapt into the air, his Power Sword spinning as it slashed at the hazy creature shrouded in shadow.
Crackle!
The Disruption Field tore apart the veil of shadows, revealing a gray, withered body.
Mosax spun, unyielding, and the dark-blue blade bit into the decayed body.
A mist of blood sprayed out.
Whoosh—
One shadow
