Background

Nimrod awakens as the Eleventh Primarch during the scattering of the Primarchs. Refusing to accept a predetermined fate, he influences the Warp with his conviction and alters his descent, causing his gestation pod to crash on Vostonia in the Segmentum Obscurus rather than at its intended destination. He quickly learns the local language, survives the underhive, and heads toward Tezwork Hive. 2

His early growth is marked by Gene Awakening. Nimrod’s body expands into a Primarch’s physique while Genetic Memory grants him knowledge of warfare, machine and species weaknesses, and humanity’s accumulated civilization. 13 He subsequently consolidates industrial power in Vostonia, taking all sixty-three factories of the Khanty-Mansi Dome in just over ten days and raising their total output by fifteen percent. 9

As King of Vostonia, Nimrod orders a sweeping population-growth policy, subsidizes childbirth through factory employment, secretly establishes assassins loyal to himself, and begins planning a new hive-city model. 61 His authority expands beyond Vostonia when the Emperor entrusts him with the Second and Fifteenth Legions after Horus recommends him. 98

The Emperor later gives Nimrod a Relic-class warship, the silver Power Fist, and command of the 33rd Fleet. Nimrod renames his legion the Shadow of Order, adopts its black emblem, and orders its ships and vehicles repainted accordingly. 80 81 He also develops the Kingdom of Disorder into a concealed base of power, using it to store resources, conduct rituals, cultivate Beyonders, and bind selected followers through supernatural contracts. 95 886

After centuries of expansion, Nimrod begins openly preparing an independent power base. He hides territories and production capacity from Imperial taxation, spreads forces into unreported systems, and has the Second Legion govern Gardinal. 468 Following Horus’s rebellion, he reveals that he was never loyal to the Emperor and persuades Perturabo to join him in building a new nation. 1129

Appearance

Nimrod is an exceptionally large Primarch with black eyes and a physique that reached approximately 4.11 meters after his early Gene Awakening. 13 834 His usual presentation emphasizes black armor and the iconography of the Black Emperor.

  • Wears black armor with a red cloak and the Black Emperor emblem on his chest. 81
  • Has obsidian-like black eyes, later described as capable of expanding into a vast psychic presence. 17 1140
  • Gains a pair of golden wings after killing and absorbing the essence of the C’tan fragment Nyadra-Zatha. 247 248
  • Can spread the wings’ Necrodermis across his armor to cleanse corrosion and restore protection. 384
  • His Fallen Count mythical form manifests as a shadowed being with a single enormous golden eye. 1128

Personality

Nimrod is calculating, ambitious, and intensely self-directed. From his first moments after awakening, he rejects predestination and acts to reshape his own future. 2 He habitually studies the incentives, weaknesses, and power structures of allies and enemies alike, using legal arguments, technological exchanges, military deployments, and supernatural bargains to turn circumstances to his advantage. 9 291 886

He values order as an instrument rather than a restraint. His choice of the Hand of Order reflects his preference for constructing a new order instead of merely destroying enemies, while his rule of Vostonia retains institutions such as arbitration even as he centralizes authority. 81 261 At the same time, he is willing to conceal wealth, falsify military losses, manipulate minds, and cultivate personal dependence to protect his long-term plans. 468 687 1141

Nimrod’s defining internal anchor is ambition. During his advancement to Fallen Count, he rejects both Angron’s memories and the faith of his own followers, affirming that neither the dead nor his believers will define him. 1122

Abilities & Skills

Primarch Physiology and Genetic Memory

Nimrod possesses the physical capabilities, accelerated cognition, and inherited knowledge of a Primarch.

  • His Gene Awakening grants combat knowledge, military theory, civilizational knowledge, and awareness of racial and mechanical weaknesses. 13
  • His speed exceeds Vulkan’s in a Nocturne footrace, even without using his wings. 300
  • While sustaining Power Burst as a Baron of Corruption, his physical strength exceeds that of every Primarch, including Vulkan. 834
  • He can wield weapons and fight powerful xenos directly, including C’tan fragments, Hrud royalty, Rangdan leaders, and Hraf Originators. 247 332 612 874

Psionics

Nimrod employs telekinesis, psychic projections, mental observation, spiritual perception, and long-range consciousness.

  • His psychic projection can attend councils on Terra across immense interstellar distances. 440 546
  • His telekinesis can destroy fortifications, isolate threats, move enormous corpses, and manipulate battlefield conditions. 314 576 384
  • After becoming Mentor of Chaos, his consciousness and psychic strength greatly increase; after later transformations, his mind can cross more than fifteen light-years without ritual. 638 1141
  • He can enter and dominate mental worlds, as demonstrated against the Hraf Originator. 860
  • Psychic suppression, decay effects, and sufficiently powerful Warp interference can limit or disable his abilities. 737 885

Kingdom of Disorder

The Kingdom of Disorder is Nimrod’s hidden domain and source of supernatural authority.

  • Contains layered spaces used to store weapons, materials, captives, and ritual resources. 96 647
  • Allows him to transport targets and items into its shadowed spaces, including the King of the Hrud and captured Hraf Originators. 612 874
  • Supports ritual magic, potion production, and the cultivation of Beyonders within the Shadow of Order. 212 872
  • Enables limited alteration of contracts in Nimrod’s favor, though stronger targets resist greater manipulation. 886
  • Its authority grows alongside Nimrod’s advancement and is linked to his developing resurrection capability. 647

Hand of Order

Nimrod’s silver Power Fist is associated with the Sequence 1 Hand of Order of the Justiciar pathway. 168

  • Emits golden light and imposes regularity or order upon nearby objects. 81
  • Grants access to Detect Evil, used to locate the largest Kraken during the Fenris hunt. 168
  • Can issue edicts, including forbidding temporal distortion in a localized area. 612
  • Enables battlefield-scale rule manipulation, including stripping Hraf Originators of teleportation and establishing sealed battlefields. 872
  • Its high output can exhaust Nimrod’s spirituality and cause severe psychic pain. 872

Fallen Count Abilities

As a Sequence 4 Fallen Count, Nimrod becomes capable of exploiting and altering rules within designated areas. 1123

  • Can designate a battlefield and alter, add to, or exploit its rules. 1123
  • Possesses the Forever Unchosen ability and can create shadow avatars, though their growing independence presents a control risk. 1123
  • Gains enhancements associated with the Four Ruinous Powers: strength from Khorne, psionic and prophetic aptitude from Tzeentch, poison-related resilience from Nurgle, and enhanced agility from Slaanesh. 1123
  • Can become a shadow to evade attacks and manifest Shadow Blades that damage both body and soul. 1124 1128

Divination and Warp Navigation

Nimrod uses the Dice of Prophecy and his evolving Warp perception to plan campaigns and navigate interstellar threats.

  • The Dice of Prophecy can reveal future opportunities, targets, and strategic routes. 157 446 725
  • Divinations involving Source Essence, Uniqueness, or C’tan shards increase the Dice’s recovery time and may provide incomplete information. 612 635
  • He develops a personal Warp image and becomes capable of plotting Warp routes himself. 885
  • With the contracted Originator Yulman’s aid, he matches Magnus in a Warp-navigation contest and reaches Ullanor simultaneously. 886
  • His independent Warp navigation remains vulnerable to Ruinstorm-level instability and deliberate interference. 885

Golden Wings and C’tan Essence

Nimrod gains golden wings after killing Nyadra-Zatha and absorbing its essence. 247

  • The wings grant extraordinary aerial speed and mobility. 248
  • They can cover his body in Necrodermis to cleanse contamination and reinforce damaged armor. 384
  • The absorbed essence reconstructs and strengthens his body and may grant a fire-related psychic power. 247
  • Nimrod can ignite the wings with golden flame during combat. 612 872

Resurrection and Immortality

Nimrod activates the Fountain of Youth and triggers the Eleventh Layer Space, gaining an early resurrection ability distinct from the Black Emperor pathway’s expected form. 647

  • The resurrection ability is acquired at the cost of exhausting a Fountain of Youth. 647
  • He considers adding Perpetual immortality to his existing resurrection potential. 613
  • He regards the ability as enabling him to take greater risks while seeking ancient secrets and Uniquenesses. 647 653
