Background / History

A temporal loop places Ein among the first people Ling Feng seeks after being displaced into the past. At Anti-Entropy headquarters, he reveals that he is from the future and presents photographs as evidence. Though initially skeptical, Ein accepts enough of his account to help him pursue a return to his era, in exchange for his future knowledge. 269 270

During this period, Gaia captures and injures Ein. Ling Feng rescues her from their custody, after which she resolves to eliminate the organization over its dangerous Honkai-energy manipulation. Theresa later brings Ein to Schicksal headquarters, where Ein takes on command duties before returning to North America with Ling Feng. 274 275 277

Ein discovers a clue to time travel and begins constructing a quantum device. Its eventual activation requires an extraordinary energy reserve—roughly a day of North America's energy consumption per minute—and is attempted without a trial run.
