Screech—screech—

Click—thud—thud—

The sounds of brakes engaging and vehicle doors opening and closing echoed through the deathly silent town, startling a large flock of wild pigeons and jays into flight.

Along both sides of the only main road, members of the Hunters—equipped with light gear and wielding 9mm and .45 ACP submachine guns or compact 5.56x45mm rifles—advanced toward the town center. They scanned left and right, alert and ready to neutralize any threat the moment it appeared.

Sui Yang walked in the middle-rear of the formation, his brow slightly furrowed as he used his psionics to try and pinpoint the exact location of the two Offspring.

Speaking of psionics...

Sui Yang found it difficult to describe the difference between life before and after possessing them.

If he had to use an analogy, it was like his childhood obsession with Dragon Ball, where he would often focus his mind and mimic the motions of a Kamehameha, always "believing" in himself, convinced that if he just practiced a little more and tried a little harder, he could fire a beam of blue light.

Psionics worked the same way.

When he "thought" and "believed," he could tap into his own faint psionic energy.

Of course, he couldn't produce flashy, dazzling shockwaves, nor could he invoke elemental attacks like the classic psionic lightning.

At his current stage, Sui Yang could at most use his psionics to probe and perceive the emotions of living beings within a radius of about one kilometer.

Yet, being able to sense the two Offspring over twenty kilometers away made Sui Yang think that perhaps... maybe... there really was some sort of father-son connection between them.

That was why he could detect them regardless of the distance.

However, after entering this small town—which had fallen and been abandoned five years ago—the proximity made it impossible for him to determine exactly which house they were in.

"Boss."

Just as Sui Yang was about to order the Hunters to pair up and search the town house by house, Arthur, who was walking in front, asked with a puzzled look:

"What are we doing in this hellhole? Having a barbecue?"

"No, looking for children."

"Oh, children... wait, children?!" Seeing Sui Yang's nonchalant response, Arthur was dumbfounded.

After all, ever since this Hunter company commander had gained consciousness, he had constantly heard his father recount the "magnificent" history of their family, 70% of which revolved around just how "great" Sui Yang was and how he was the savior of their lineage.

At first, Arthur thought it was an exaggeration, because even Jesus, God, and the deities were just legends; who knew what was true or false?

But as time passed, Arthur noticed that Sui Yang's appearance had never changed.

Especially that one time when Sui Yang stood before a group of teenage ARS cadets and slapped a kid who refused to listen to his parents—a kid who wanted to try drugs just to look "cool"—and sent him flying...

He meant that literally; he sent the kid flying. After that, Arthur and all the cadets skipped their rebellious phases entirely.

The kid who wanted to try drugs spent a month in the hospital before he could leave his bed, and from then on, he never dared to cross any of Sui Yang's lines, and he developed a deep loathing for drugs.

From that moment on, Arthur believed every word his father had said.

Although Sui Yang slapping someone across the room was terrifying, he would take them to the mall on holidays, fulfill their childhood wishes, and even listen to their personal troubles.

This made Arthur and the others view Sui Yang not just as a subordinate viewing a boss, but as an elder.

But looking for children...

Arthur was a bit confused, unsure if their boss was telling the truth or just joking around.

"Waa!! Waa!!"

Suddenly, the continuous, piercing cry of an infant caused the already vigilant Hunters to raise their rifles, aiming them at the source of the sound.

It was a two-story residential house with shattered windows and a missing front door.

There really were children??

Arthur was shocked.

Sui Yang raised his left hand slightly and waved it, signaling for them to search the house.

The equally stunned Hunters quickly adjusted their mindset, first surrounding the house before three two-man teams entered one by one.

Soon, they could faintly hear shouts from inside like, "Check the corner...!" and "Clear...!" As for the crying, it hadn't stopped for a second.

This made it easier for the three teams to pinpoint the exact source of the sound.

Before long, the radio on Arthur's waist crackled with a report: "Interior secure. The target is in the second-floor bedroom. There are two children, and one of them is... quite special."

After hearing the report and seeing Sui Yang already approaching the house, Arthur picked up his radio and ordered: "Maintain vigilance. The boss and I are on our way."

With that, Arthur followed closely behind Sui Yang as they entered the living room of the house.

Sui Yang's mood was complex as he walked through the space. He didn't pay much attention to the dust-covered furniture or the cracked walls, heading straight through the corner and up the stairs to the second-floor landing.

Guided by one of the Hunters, he finally walked into the master bedroom.

At the same time, Sui Yang saw two Hunters standing on either side of the bedroom, still keeping their weapons raised in a ready-to-fire stance, their faces tense as they stared at the two children lying on the dilapidated bed.

The reason these fearless, battle-hardened Hunters were so on edge was that one of the little boys had a pair of snow-white wings growing from his back.

At this moment, it was Sui Yang's turn to stand at the doorway, stunned.

The closer he drew to the bedroom, the more restless his heart became, for he feared that his inner suspicions might prove correct.

The so-called [Progeny] were, as he had most dreaded and resisted, none other than the Primarchs!

The two infants lying on the bed both possessed heads of golden hair and fair skin; even as babies, it was not difficult to see that they were remarkably handsome, especially the child with wings, who was nothing short of flawless.

Everything before his eyes pointed to the answer found in Warhammer 30k/40k: the extraordinary progeny created by the Emperor of Mankind through genetic engineering, his own DNA, and certain "special substances"—

The Primarchs.

These progeny could be considered "supermen" in every respect, and upon reaching adulthood, they would become like giants, with even the shortest standing over three meters tall.

They possessed unimaginable divine strength, speed that could not be captured by the naked eye or conventional instruments, and mastery over their respective fields...

And this "mastery" was only relative when comparing one Primarch to another; ordinary people stood no chance against them whatsoever.

The one with pure white wings and exceptional handsomeness was clearly the "Archangel" Sanguinius.

As for the other, also golden-haired and handsome but possessing the loudest cry, Sui Yang was certain he was the "Master of Ultramar," Roboute.

There were many golden-haired Primarchs, but the "Lion" would likely not be such a crybaby, and the "Wolf King" Russ possessed his signature canine teeth...

But these were not the main points; the point was, why were the [Progeny] that had descended actually Primarchs?!

The golden light that erupted when he first opened the space and absorbed the blood of Omega, as well as the suspected psychic connection established with Sanguinius and Roboute...

He had truly, inexplicably, "become a father overnight"!

Could he be...?

Impossible! Absolutely impossible!
