Background / History
Sui Yang was twenty-five when he first transmigrated. Over the following ninety years, from 1870 to 1960, his appearance did not change. He discovered that he possessed an immortal constitution, exceptional physical capabilities, and resistance to illness. Before his transmigration, he had military experience, which later shaped Atlas's emphasis on discipline, obedience, and understanding the purpose of a mission. 2 16
To avoid exposing his agelessness, Sui Yang refused marriage and did not father biological children during Atlas's early years. He used makeup to imitate aging, staged his death every fifty years, and reappeared publicly as the “grandson” inheriting the previous identity's business. Arthur Morgan, adopted orphans, and their descendants were among the first people entrusted with his secret; they became the basis of Atlas's mercenary force. 2
After learning of Soldier Boy and Compound V, Sui Yang expanded Atlas into a major corporate force in military equipment, medicine, health products, agriculture, animal husbandry, and industry. Atlas cultivated a cooperative public image with the government while supplying military contracts and civilian goods. 2
His encounter with an ancient chamber in Ghana began his direct involvement with other worlds and psychic phenomena. After later acquiring the Omega's blood, he gained [Reset] and psychic power, then began receiving Offspring—Primarch sons whom he chose to raise and guide personally. 3 8 18 49
Appearance
Sui Yang began as an ageless man physically fixed at twenty-five, but his body grew substantially as his power increased. He was over two meters tall by the Death Valley incident, stood 5.4 meters tall during the Covenant campaign, and could later alter his height freely through psychic control. 2 128 318 346
- Neat, short black hair and sharply defined facial features. 731
- Golden eyes or pupils that can radiate psychic light. 128 801
- Often emits a faint golden aura; in battle, this radiance can become overwhelming. 320 837
- Wears black-and-gold power armor with a scarlet cape when personally entering combat. 318 846
- Commonly wears black robes or formal dark clothing outside combat. 637 676
- His presence instinctively inspires awe, reverence, or fear in both allies and enemies. 320 846
Personality
Sui Yang is pragmatic, strategic, and highly protective of humanity. He uses [Reset] to reduce casualties and prevent disastrous losses, but accepts that foreknowledge cannot eliminate every enemy or tragedy. His long-term decisions prioritize stability, technological development, and humanity's ability to survive independently across multiple universes. 49 394
Despite his authority, he sees the Primarchs as sons before he sees them as commanders or weapons. He actively guides their personalities, disciplines them when necessary, worries over their brief childhoods, and wants them to become complete people rather than tools of war. 164 346 874
Immortality and responsibility have made him weary and lonely. He fears that ascension into true godhood could erase his human emotions and concern for individual lives. Though he once desired power, wealth, and military strength for personal control and security, his ambitions became centered on humanity's prosperity and on creating a future for his family. 637 838 873
