Background and History

The first known Primarchs in the Main Universe were Sanguinius and Roboute Guilliman, discovered as infants genetically 99.9% similar to Sui Yang. Their accelerated growth prompted Atlas Bioengineering to investigate whether Primarch genetics could support mass-producible super-soldier programs. 12

Further Primarchs arrived as infants in incubation pods or through meteoric descents. Sui Yang chose to raise them personally and without prejudice based on the histories of their counterparts from another universe, believing upbringing and environment could shape their futures. 84 117 340

By the founding ceremony of the Imperium of Man, fifteen Primarchs—including Alpharius and Omegon—stood with Sui Yang before the Imperial populace, while fifteen statues of the Primarchs had been erected behind the ceremonial podium. 349

New arrivals continued after the Imperium’s establishment. Ferrus Manus was born on Tatooine and rapidly matured under Hera’s divine nourishment, while Jaghatai Khan later descended upon Aegis VII in a golden meteor. 604 802

Sui Yang later explained the history of the Primarchs’ counterparts in the Warhammer 40,000 universe to his sons. The Main Universe Primarchs reacted strongly to the betrayal, corruption, and suffering experienced by their alternate selves. 483
