Background / History

Tang San grew up in Holy Soul Village as the son of blacksmith Tang Hao. Before his martial soul awakening, he hoped to inherit a hammer martial soul, but awakened Blue Silver Grass instead; he concealed the Clear Sky Hammer in his left hand from others. His Innate Full Soul Power came from cultivating the Mysterious Heaven Skill from childhood. 3 5 6

He entered Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy with Su Xing, became Yu Xiaogang's direct disciple, and developed a close sibling-like bond with Xiao Wu. His early combat style combined Blue Silver Grass control with Tang Sect techniques and Hidden Weapons. 12 17 25 47

Tang San later learned that Tang Hao was the Clear Sky Douluo and that Ah Yin, his mother, had been a Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor soul beast. The revelation shaped his desire for power and revenge, especially after the destruction of his Clear Sky Hammer's first three soul rings and the failure to awaken the Blue Silver Emperor through conventional means. 123 126 130 149

His forced absorption of the Soul-Devouring Demon Spider's ring and soul bone destabilized his mind. The Eight Spider Lances' ability to drain life force and soul power increasingly became central to his fighting style, drawing accusations that he was an evil soul master. 131 183 186

After Xiao Wu was reduced to a rabbit form following her sacrifice, Tang San returned to Shrek Academy determined to revive her and oppose Spirit Hall. He founded the Tang Sect, gained the Strength Clan's support, recruited divine blacksmith Lou Gao, and armed the Heaven Dou Empire with Tang Sect Hidden Weapons. 212 214 217 221 228

Tang San eventually embraced the Rakshasa God's inheritance. His pursuit of power escalated into massacres, betrayal of former allies, and the destruction of the Tang Sect he had founded. 237 252 259

Appearance

Tang San was initially described as thin and frail-looking despite his fierce hammer work, and he wore patched clothing due to Tang Hao's meager blacksmith income. As his condition worsened, he commonly concealed himself in black robes, with blood-red eyes and a ghostlike appearance. 8 11 259

  • Possesses Blue Silver Grass, later described as Dark Blue Silver Grass or Dark Blue Silver Emperor. 153 298
  • Can summon the pitch-black Clear Sky Hammer, though the martial soul was later crippled. 6 251
  • Has eight External Soul Bone spider lances extending from his back. 113 140
  • His eyes can shine violet-gold when using Purple Demon Eye. 117 232

Personality

Tang San is protective of Xiao Wu and repeatedly reacts with rage when she is harmed, prioritizing her safety and later committing himself to finding a way to revive her. 93 140 212

He is also proud, calculating, and intensely focused on strength. His confidence in the Clear Sky Hammer, Twin Martial Souls, and Tang Sect techniques frequently causes him to underestimate opponents or cling to power despite severe risks. 109 157 165

After absorbing the Soul-Devouring Demon Spider and entering the Capital of Slaughter, his ruthlessness becomes increasingly pronounced. He embraces life-draining methods, holds grudges against perceived betrayers, and eventually sacrifices allies and enemies alike for the Rakshasa inheritance. 131 189 259 336
