It seemed he had become Ryougi Shiki's tool for venting her desires?
Fighting Ryougi Shiki was one way to raise her affection for him. As a freeloader, he also had an obligation to help his wife vent her desires. But Higashino Kanade was a freeloader with ambitions. He did not want to fight himself to death every day. If possible, he would rather lie down.
Ryougi Shiki charged at him again with her blade. Higashino Kanade easily dodged her attack, then seized an opening and used the move Itachi had used on Sasuke, tapping Ryougi Shiki's forehead with his index and middle fingers.
"Forgive me, Sister Shiki. Next time, for sure."
After saying that, Higashino Kanade put down the practice weapon and headed out. At the door, a servant of the Ryougi Family was kneeling on the floor, with a change of clothes placed beside them.
The day after he had reached an agreement with the Head of the Ryougi Family, Higashino Kanade had been arranged to move into the Ryougi Family residence. His room was right next to Ryougi Shiki's.
The move had been the Head of the Ryougi Family's idea. Higashino Kanade had not brought it up even once. He had merely gone along with it, treating it as getting used to his future life as a freeloader in advance.
Just as he took off his sweat-soaked training uniform to change, the Head of the Ryougi Family walked in.
"Kanade, I watched your fight with Shiki. You held back, didn't you?"
The Enemy with Future Sight
The Head of the Ryougi Family looked serious. Unable to read his intentions, Higashino Kanade answered honestly, "Shiki is excellent. She's stronger than most people in this world, but she's still a little weaker than me."
"If possible, I hope you will go all out when fighting Shiki. Shiki is stronger than many people, but the Ryougi Family has a Yakuza background. No matter what kind of sudden attack we encounter, it would not be surprising. I hope Shiki can protect herself."
"Next time, for sure."
Higashino Kanade nodded earnestly. Parents always worried about their children. He could understand Shiki's father's strict demands of her, but he still had to go easy on her when necessary. Higashino Kanade truly felt sorry for his future wife.
"By the way, were you serious about what you said earlier?"
"Which thing?"
"That line: Small breasts, big talk..." The Head of the Ryougi Family did not continue. Otherwise, his dignified image would crumble.
Higashino Kanade's mouth twitched. Could the Head of the Ryougi Family be here to vent his daughter's anger? That Damn System really only knew how to mess with him.
"Of course I was joking." Higashino Kanade smiled easily. "I only said it to stir up Shiki's fighting spirit, so she would go all out against me. There was no other meaning behind it."
"I see."
The Head of the Ryougi Family secretly breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed Higashino Kanade was not dissatisfied with Ryougi Shiki's figure. He had thought Higashino Kanade was obsessed with large breasts.
Still, just in case, he decided to instruct the servants to add papaya dishes to Ryougi Shiki's three daily meals from now on, to promote her development. He had to bind Higashino Kanade and Ryougi Shiki tightly together.
"There is one more matter I would like to ask of you, Kanade."
Having settled the marital issue between Higashino Kanade and Ryougi Shiki, the Head of the Ryougi Family began discussing business.
"Two days ago, one of the family's businesses suffered a terrorist attack from a competing force. There were no casualties, but the products and the building are no longer usable."
"Do you need me to deal with the competing force?"
"No. The competitor is merely a company we are about to acquire, driven to desperation. The real trouble is the attacker they hired."
A rare look of confusion appeared on the Head of the Ryougi Family's face. "The business's security system was state-of-the-art and had not malfunctioned. The guards were professionally trained as well. Yet the cameras at the scene did not capture the attacker, and there were not even any witnesses. The police are helpless. It was as if the bombs had been placed out of thin air, then detonated. We suspect it was the work of a Magus."
After speaking, the Head of the Ryougi Family looked at Higashino Kanade and found him staring blankly. He patted his shoulder. "Kanade?"
"I understand, Uncle. Give me three days, and I'll take care of that attacker." Higashino Kanade looked confident, but his smile was slightly strained.
The Head of the Ryougi Family nodded in satisfaction. "You do not necessarily have to kill him. You only need to display the Ryougi Family's strength. Those hiding in the shadows must know that the Ryougi Family is not to be provoked."
The Head of the Ryougi Family left after speaking, leaving Higashino Kanade alone in the empty changing room.
Higashino Kanade was silent for a long while before suddenly cursing, "Damn System! Can't you let me live off a woman in peace?!"
That was right. Just now, the Damn System had issued another quest.
Ding! A Normal Quest has been triggered! Mission Name: Educate the Brat Time Limit: Three days (Exceeding the time limit will be considered mission failure.) Description: Once upon a time, there was a Brat starved of love. After awakening Future Sight, he became a Bomb Maniac. As the future Hokage, you have a duty to educate him and let him know what the Will of Fire is. Mission Reward: One Silver Treasure Chest Mission Failure: Become a Brat and never grow up for the rest of your life (Note: It is recommended to use Thousand Years of Death for greater effect.)
Higashino Kanade wore an expression of utter despair. He no longer wanted to become Hokage. The system was absolutely a stumbling block in the path of his great freeloading endeavor.
To avoid becoming a Brat, Higashino Kanade decided to muster a little motivation.
"Future Sight?" Higashino Kanade caught a key term.
As the name implied, Future Sight was a Mystic Eye capable of seeing the future. In the Nasuverse, there were quite a few people with Future Sight, and it was an extremely troublesome Mystic Eye.
Troublesome as it was, Higashino Kanade was not without a way to deal with it. If he remembered correctly, Future Sight was far inferior to Clairvoyance. It could not, like certain close-combat mages, see through the absolute past, present, and future. It could only see futures that might occur at a certain moment.
If Higashino Kanade remembered correctly, there were three people in The Garden of Sinners with Future Sight. Setting aside the elusive Mother of the Void and Kirito Kurogiri's little fangirl, there was only one target left.
"I can't remember the name, but he should be a boy around my age. It's my first time fighting an enemy who can see the future. I need to plan this carefully."
After leaving the changing room, Higashino Kanade found the Head of the Ryougi Family and asked for information about their competitor. Then he summoned a Toad for communication and told them to send the Toad to find him if anything came up.
That night, Higashino Kanade went to the competitor's home. After interrogating him with Genjutsu, he obtained the information he wanted.
"Kuramitsu Ruka. That really is a nice fake name."
Higashino Kanade put away the information he had obtained, erased the man's memories, and left.
Kuramitsu Ruka, a rising star who had emerged in the assassin world half a year ago. No one knew his real name, and no one had ever seen his true face.
Despite being a ghost-like figure, he had built a formidable reputation in the assassin world as a Bomb Maniac. Although he had not killed a single person so far, his one hundred percent mission completion rate ensured that no one dared underestimate him.
Employers generally hired him to carry out terrorist attacks against their competitors for intimidation purposes, and he was happy to take such jobs. Today, he had accepted another one.
"The target is actually a child? These disgusting adults are getting more and more tasteless." Even Kuramitsu Ruka could not help but spit out a curse.
Among the intelligence sent by the employer, one photograph of a boy stood out in particular.
The boy was a handsome youth with amber-colored pupils.
The employer was an ordinary-sounding middle-aged man who claimed to be the boy's distant relative. The boy's parents had died in an accident some time ago, so the middle-aged man had taken out all his savings to hire Kuramitsu Ruka. He planned to use bombs to frighten the boy into handing over the inheritance.
If Kuramitsu Ruka had been an assassin with a conscience, he would have cursed the middle-aged man and refused the job. But what assassin had a conscience? They were merely killing machines who worked for money. Kuramitsu Ruka already counted as merciful for having a principle against killing.
Kuramitsu Ruka took out a photo of the boy's home, examined it, and began predicting the future.
Kuramitsu Ruka's Future Sight was not ordinary Future Sight. His was the rare Determinative Future Sight, an ability that could analyze the conditions needed for a certain future and help its wielder achieve that future.
Simply put, he first envisioned a future, and then his eyes told him what he needed to do to make that future come true.
P.S. One update. Thanks to "How Could That Be?!" for feeding me three packs of spicy strips.
Put on a Future
Night fell as Kuramitsu Ruka carried a black duffel bag to the target's front door, stopping before a house with a nameplate reading "Higashino."
He did not choose to enter through the front door. Instead, he went to a small window on the side of the house.
The window was tiny. A normal adult man could never fit through it, but Kuramitsu Ruka was different. He was only twelve years old, and though the window was small, he could easily pass through it. This was the result he had predicted through Future Sight.
It was difficult to imagine that a twelve-year-old child could be a Bomb Maniac renowned throughout the assassin world, but a miserable past and the awakening of Future Sight had created everything he was now.
Logically speaking, with Determinative Future Sight, he would never lack money and would not need to take dirty jobs like this to survive. Yet he had chosen to become a Bomb Maniac simply because it was interesting.
Yes, those with Future Sight gained immeasurable power, but they also lost the future. Imagine getting the complete walkthrough for a game the moment you bought it. What fun would there be left in playing it?
Kuramitsu Ruka had lost the enjoyment of the game called life. Having stopped hoping for the future, he could only gain a faint sense of being alive when carrying out terrorist attacks, using it to fill the emptiness in his heart. In that regard, he was somewhat similar to Asagami Fujino.
After tossing the black duffel bag inside, Kuramitsu Ruka easily climbed in.
This was the bathroom of the Higashino Family home. The floor was still wet, making it clear that the owner of the house had used it not long ago.
Kuramitsu Ruka calmly turned on the bathroom light, then switched on every light on the first floor to make it easier to install the bombs.
He was not worried that the brightness would wake the house's owner. He even took a bottle of marble soda from the refrigerator, opened it, and drank it. In the future he had seen, the owner would sleep soundly in the second-floor bedroom until the first bomb exploded.
Kuramitsu Ruka took less than five minutes to install all the bombs, then calmly left through the locked front door. Throughout the entire operation, no surveillance equipment caught sight of him, and he left behind neither fingerprints nor clues related to himself. He was practically a real ghost.
After going some distance away from the Higashino Family home, Kuramitsu Ruka stared at the house with his lifeless eyes and pressed the detonator.
With a boom, flames and thick smoke filled the air. A bomb hidden in the Higashino Family's toilet exploded, waking the current owner of the Higashino Family home with the sudden blast.
Kuramitsu Ruka checked the time. Three minutes later, in the future he had seen, the boy from the Higashino Family had already escaped the house. He then pressed the detonators for all the remaining bombs in one go.
The massive explosions made the ground beneath his feet tremble. Looking at the fierce blaze in the distance, Kuramitsu Ruka felt as though something had slightly filled the emptiness in his heart.
Personally witnessing the future he had seen was the final step for his Future Sight to turn that future into reality. Once he confirmed that the mission had once again been completed perfectly, Kuramitsu Ruka decided to go home.
Suddenly, Kuramitsu Ruka felt as though someone was watching him. Always placing concealment of his identity above all else, he sharply turned around and had already drawn a pistol.
"Meow~~"
On the tree behind him, a small Black Cat clung to a branch, lazily watching him.
Kuramitsu Ruka let out a sigh of relief. He did not want his identity exposed and to be sent to prison. No matter how powerful a person was, they could not contend with a nation. Once he was locked up, he would have no way to fill the emptiness in his heart. He might kill himself after being unable to experience the feeling of being alive for too long.
"Am I just too nervous? It seems I've been taking jobs too frequently lately. It's time to give myself a break."
Kuramitsu Ruka wiped away the cold sweat on his forehead. Though he was already a rising Bomb Maniac in the assassin world, he was still a twelve-year-old child. His mental fortitude was still lacking.
Looking at the Black Cat that had frightened him, Kuramitsu Ruka took out a packet of biscuits, opened it, and held it out toward the cat.
"Kitty, kitty, kitty—"
Kitty your ass!
Higashino Kanade, transformed into a Black Cat, could not help rolling his eyes. His disdainful expression made the cat look exceptionally human.
Kuramitsu Ruka was not angered by being rejected by a cat, because he had deliberately used Future Sight on the Black Cat just now and discovered that no matter how he teased it, he would not be able to pet it. Having received the walkthrough, he decisively gave up.
Kuramitsu Ruka placed the biscuits beneath the tree and left. Higashino Kanade quietly followed him.
How did one deal with an enemy who could see the future?
Higashino Kanade's answer was to openly put on a show for him.
The person who had hired Kuramitsu Ruka for this operation was Higashino Kanade himself. He had first used the Transformation Technique to disguise himself as an older man, then sent his own information and the payment to Kuramitsu Ruka, asking him to attack himself. His true purpose was to lure him out.
To bait him into taking the hook, Higashino Kanade had deliberately used a Shadow Clone to play himself at home, intentionally allowing Kuramitsu Ruka to successfully blow up his house. After making him believe the mission was certain to succeed rather than a trap, he had successfully used the future Kuramitsu Ruka could see to deceive him.
Meanwhile, Higashino Kanade's real body had transformed into an inconspicuous Black Cat outside the house. Once he confirmed the attacker's identity, he followed him. That was Higashino Kanade's plan.
Still transformed into a Black Cat, Higashino Kanade followed Kuramitsu Ruka to the outside of his rented apartment. Seeing that the Black Cat was still following him, Kuramitsu Ruka simply opened the door and let it in, even thoughtfully pouring it a bottle of milk.
Though Kuramitsu Ruka knew from the future he had seen that he would not be able to pet the cat no matter what he did, he still tentatively reached out a hand toward Higashino Kanade, looking as if he desperately wanted to cuddle the cat.
Just as Higashino Kanade was wondering whether to scratch him, a phone began ringing.
"Another job?"
Kuramitsu Ruka instinctively reached for his pocket, then suddenly remembered that his phone's ringtone was not this sound.
He looked in horror at the harmless-looking Black Cat before him. The ringing was coming from the cat.
At that moment, the Black Cat suddenly gave a very human-like smile and spoke. "Sorry, my phone is ringing."
"M-Monster!"
For the first time in his life, Kuramitsu Ruka had seen a talking Black Cat. Experiencing the supernatural for the first time, he was frightened senseless like a child.
Just as he desperately tried to use Future Sight to analyze what exactly was happening, the Black Cat suddenly burst into white smoke. A boy around his age, one he found very familiar, appeared within the smoke.
"Y-You're the target of this operation! Didn't you run away in terror after the explosion? Why did you turn into a Black Cat and follow me?"
"It's a long story, but please calm down first."
Summoning Technique!
Higashino Kanade bit his finger and rapidly formed hand seals, summoning a Toad the size of an adult.
Higashino Kanade pointed at Kuramitsu Ruka. The Toad immediately understood, shooting out its tongue to wrap up the fleeing Kuramitsu Ruka and swallowing him in one gulp.
