442. Regent King's Strategy!
Did Higashino Kanade want to become King of Uruk?
The answer was no. He was such a slacker; the whole reason he worked hard to live off women was to make his own life easier. He had Ryougi Shiki handle everything in reality and all the business affairs, while he spent his days gaming, watching anime, and doting on his daughter. How could someone like him possibly want a position that could work a person to death?
Higashino Kanade's original plan had only been to establish Konoha Village within Uruk and become a small village chief. He would not have many people to manage, and his main focus would be training ninjas, something his abilities were more than enough to handle.
But Gilgamesh had dumped all of Mesopotamia's hundred thousand-plus people onto him in one go. How was he supposed to manage all that? Human beings had limits, and Higashino Kanade, who did not want to die from overwork, had even begun considering running away.
"Regent King, stop avoiding this. I know you cannot accept the current situation, but everyone in Uruk already knows about it."
Siduri pressed down on Higashino Kanade's shoulder, keeping him from fleeing.
"Was I the last one to find out?" Higashino Kanade asked with a horrified expression.
"Probably." Siduri nodded somewhat guiltily, then grabbed one of Higashino Kanade's arms with pleading in her eyes. "King Gilgamesh has already left. Now, Uruk—no, all the humans of Mesopotamia—have no one to rely on but you. If even you leave, humanity will truly have no hope left."
Higashino Kanade swallowed, his heart pounding nervously as countless thoughts raced through his mind.
That was true. Without me, this Singularity is finished. Gilgamesh could ruthlessly abandon over a hundred thousand people, but I can't do that.
