With Seamus setting his feather alight as the signal that class was over, Ron's mood had reached rock bottom.

Harry had already spotted Hermione nearby from the corner of his eye, so he hurriedly covered for Ron. "Aren't Hermione and Wayne on pretty good terms? They're both geniuses."
"There are different kinds of geniuses." Ron continued digging his own grave. "Wayne is much more of a genius than Hermione, but he's never acted as arrogant as she does.
"Look at Wayne's popularity. Even Malfoy takes the initiative to greet him!"
