The moment Carl stepped into B Sector of the warehouse, a bone-chilling cold rushed over her.

This clearly was not a freezer, yet the temperature was abnormally low. She instinctively wrapped her clothes tighter around herself. The familiar chill instantly reminded her of what had happened at the logistics center last time—when she, Johnson, Kenichi Shiro, and Jade had been trapped inside a low-temperature freezer. That freezer had been kept extremely cold to preserve the quality of real meat products.

The temperature in that freezer had been lowered to keep the real meat from spoiling. Did that mean this warehouse was storing meat as well?

Considering that Biotechnica specialized in that field to begin with, it did not seem strange.

Carl stood at the entrance and surveyed the warehouse. Nearly every shelf inside was covered by opaque tarps, concealing whatever lay beneath them.

White vapor condensed before Carl's face as she exhaled. She rubbed her fingers, which had grown slightly stiff from the cold. This temperature was definitely wrong. Ordinary refrigeration did not need to be this cold.

She slowly approached the nearest shelf, her fingers hovering over the edge of the tarp. She paused for several seconds—no infrared sensors, no pressure sensors, not even the most basic mechanical traps. Once she confirmed it was safe, she lifted the tarp.

It seemed the warehouse's defenses were entirely concentrated on that fifteen-meter corridor of death outside, while the interior had been left completely unguarded. Perhaps, to its owner, the traps inside were more dangerous than intruders—one careless mistake could cause irreparable damage to the warehouse's "collection."

Carl's movement stirred up a cloud of icy mist. Beneath the tarp, dozens of biological storage tanks stood in neat rows, their surfaces covered in web-like frost patterns.

Biological storage tanks?

Carl had seen plenty
