After the matter at the Maelstrom site was settled, Jefferson Peralez sat silently on the sofa at home, listening to everything Carl told him upon his return.
He thought over it all and finally sighed.
"No matter what, I think I need to move."
As Jefferson Peralez spoke, he looked at Carl. "None of this can be resolved in the short term. I should start with what's right in front of me."
"That's true enough."
Carl smiled. "Need me to recommend a place? I've never been a real estate agent, but I know a few good spots. At the very least—"
Carl glanced around the house, which had already been turned upside down. "At the very least, they'd be safer than this place."
Jefferson Peralez's gaze fell on the surveillance devices piled on the floor like a small mountain. Fully agreeing with Carl, he nodded and said,
"I also need a professional security team."
"I've acted as a middleman for that once too. I've got experience."
Carl was not surprised. For the current Jefferson Peralez, he truly needed a team of bodyguards capable of protecting him while also putting his mind at ease.
Carl considered the people he knew.
The first people who came to mind were Afterlife mercenaries like Brown, whom he had recommended before. After all, they were currently protecting Kerry. But after giving it some thought, he dismissed the idea.
