Anton quietly made his way down the stairs, but found nothing.
This wasn't where the Ritual Magic for the Death Wizard Ritual was performed. It was an office.
Squibs filled the place, making it look more like a real estate agency or a bank.
A huge poster was plastered in the middle of the office. In blood-red letters, it read: "The Death Wizard Ritual has an extremely high fatality rate. Please consider carefully."
It looked especially terrifying.
On closer inspection, there was a set of rules posted beneath it, explaining how to apply for the Death Wizard Ritual.
It mostly described the ritual, claiming that it could give Squibs stronger spellcasting abilities than ordinary wizards. If they succeeded, they would instantly rise above the common people and immediately receive a position as an official in the Ministry of Magic.
They were mainly recruiting children under twenty, and the child's immediate family had to sign their consent.
After signing the consent form, their family would receive between 100,000 and 200,000 dollars as a settlement allowance.
Those over twenty, on the other hand, weren't offered any settlement allowance. They were simply individuals who had come to gamble their lives on a possible opportunity.
Anton looked around. Families were being led by Squib staff to round tables on the left side of the hall, where all the details were explained to them. Then, with officials from the Magical Congress as witnesses, they signed the documents before being taken to the bank-like counters on the right to collect their money.
There was far too much human joy and sorrow here.
Some families signed the consent form, then eagerly left their children behind and followed the staff to the counters to collect the money.
Others hesitated, unable to put pen to paper, and finally wept
