With him there, the storms raging outside the school could not blow into Hogwarts.

There was far too much further explanation that could only continue once Anton had thoroughly mastered the Flying Charm and gained firsthand experience of it.

Thus, that Friday afternoon, Anton spent his time under Snape's guidance brewing a Gender-Bending Potion for a hen that had just laid an egg.

This was the most difficult part of preparing the Ritual Magic for the entire Flying Charm.

They needed to achieve an exquisitely precise critical point: immediately after the hen laid an egg, it had to turn into a rooster and incubate that egg.

The process was filled with uncertainty.

The biggest problem was that once it turned into a rooster, the chicken seemed to become intensely aggressive. The egg it had just laid before changing sex seemed to possess a unique allure for it, and the rooster would peck at it.

No one knew how many chickens they had tried before they finally found a hen overflowing with maternal love. After becoming a rooster, its maternal instincts overwhelmed its instinct to eat, and it continued incubating the egg.

After one night, just as the sun rose and the moon had yet to clock out, Snape suddenly told Anton to pick up the rooster.
