The Old Wizard sighed with feeling. "But as for that ability you mentioned, observing the Memory Planet, I do have a few ideas."
Anton's eyes lit up. "Let's hear them."
The Old Wizard fell silent for a while, then walked over to the fireplace in the corner of the office and drew his wand, tapping a relief sculpture above it.
The relief depicted an old well, with a skeletal hand reaching out from within, grasping toward a pile of objects in the distance.
As the wand tapped lightly, dark green light flowed through lines of cracks, and the pile of objects suddenly changed from white plaster into vivid colors.
The Old Wizard reached into the pile and pulled out a book. Written on its cover were the words: "My Experience Becoming a Ghost."
He ran his fingers over the book for a moment, his gaze distant as he sighed. Then he handed it to Anton. "Becoming a ghost doesn't feel very pleasant. Unfortunately, you can only glimpse a few insights through the words in this book. You can't truly comprehend that mysterious and ineffable sensation."
Anton raised an eyebrow.
What a coincidence.
He really did have a way to become a ghost.
Back when he had gone to Azkaban to serve time, he had transformed a Dementor. Its robe had later been given to him by Fudge for research.
He had eventually turned it into a Wizard Robe that could transform a person into a ghost. Anton had simply always thought it was useless. Ghosts could still be harmed by magic, and they could not cast magic themselves. Turning into a ghost was practically asking for trouble.
