Adams was the first living being Anton had ever collected. He was a special existence brought into being by the combined effects of the Ritual Magic of "Connections Between People," presided over by Anton, and the Ritual Magic of "Weasley King Prayer," presided over by Adams himself.

This fanatical follower of King Weasley was utterly loyal to Anton—so loyal it was unsettling. Under this unique arrangement, he had become a Horcrux attached to Anton's life.

It was a difficult magical principle to explain clearly. There were so many complexities and coincidences that even Anton couldn't make sense of many of the details.

But one thing was beyond doubt: through Ritual Magic and a stroke of fortune, this guy had combined his magic with that of Amiduo Duoduo, the Dark Magic Creature from the Chocolate Frog Factory (the deer that turned into frogs), and Alemie, the fiercely loyal black panther (Chapter 498). The magic of those two creatures had given him tremendous power.

That power was even greater than Dumbledore's or Voldemort's. It exceeded what his body could bear, so much that it spilled out of him.

Many Fantastic Beasts possessed more magic than even the most powerful wizards. They simply couldn't put it to use. Countless forms of witchcraft—or magic—were the privilege of intelligent beings, and they lacked that privilege.

For a time, Anton suspected that this guy had combined with the magical bloodlines of the two Dark Magic Creatures, and that their magic had grown so potent that he had become a half-Dark Magic Creature himself.
