Anton gently rubbed the Ring, releasing Olaro from within.
Without a body to contain her, Olaro still appeared as a mass of Obscurus.
She wasn't Anna. Anton was absolutely certain of that.
He had already completed his mapping of Anna's Life Existence, and could sense the fundamental difference between her and Olaro.
Or, to put it another way, this mass of Obscurus wasn't even Olaro. People who developed an Obscurus inside them were called Obscurials. An Obscurus was merely a combination of some of an Obscurial's most extreme memories, emotions, and will—parts of their Ego—along with their Magical Power.
It felt somewhat like a Dark Magic Creature growing inside a Wizard.
At least, as reflected in Anton's Lake of the Mind, this Obscurus's Memory Planets had nothing to do with Anna. It was an independent existence, drawing on part of its original host's Ego and, carried by extreme Magical Power, forming an independent movement governed by the laws of life.
It had a rhythm similar to life and its own regular patterns, but no Memory Planets of its own, nor any connection that extended to and drew upon another being's Memory Planets. Anton could even classify an Obscurus as a Dark Magic Creature.
Yet this Obscurus was undergoing a violent transformation.
"If I'm not mistaken..."
Anton blinked. "The memories, emotions, and will it contains are disappearing?"
No, it wasn't merely a matter of disappearing.
It seemed to be swallowed by some mysterious force, collapsing inward until it vanished bit by bit, as though it had fallen into a black hole.
Anton's heart stirred. In the reflection of the Lake of the Mind, a Boundless Void appeared before his eyes.
He looked toward Anna's Memory Planets and saw several Soul Black Lines extending from them into the unknown depths.
